Sun Mao is an Origin Qi Scholar attached to the Long Clan who turns a marketplace quarrel into a lethal public disturbance. His savage refusal to accept responsibility makes him one of the two offenders whose arrest brings Su Chen into open conflict with Clear River City's Bloodline Nobility Clans.

Biography

Marketplace arrest

Sun Mao fights Yu Chengshui in a crowded market with no concern for the people caught between them. Their stray attacks kill an elderly woman and injure many others, and both men attack Su Chen when he intervenes. Sun Mao tries a hidden dagger and then the energy-intensive Extermination Jab, but Su forces Sun's own right arm into the technique's path, ruining the limb. Sun remains defiant after capture, threatens Su, and is forced to swallow an unidentified medicine before being taken to the Origin Bureau. (Chapters 349–350)

Clan confrontation

Sun later appears with one arm while following Long Shaoyou during an ambush against Su. The Long Clan subsequently treats him as a servant and potential bargaining piece rather than a protected clan heir. Later discussions repeatedly invoke the lawful arrest of Sun and Yu as the starting point of the clans' dispute with the Origin Bureau, but do not show Sun physically present or establish his eventual release, punishment, or death.
