Mo Dayan

Mo Dayan is the Su Clan's head charioteer and a senior servant who participates in the household campaign against the newly blinded Su Chen. His refusal to provide Su Chen's carriage leads to a confrontation in which Su Chen breaks all four of his limbs and reasserts his authority within the clan.

Biography

The carriage-house confrontation

Mo Dayan withheld Su Chen's carriage, mocked his blindness, and claimed that no driver would serve him. He also knew that Su Yue had tampered with a carriage by weakening it and hiding needles inside, yet kept silent. When the trap was exposed, Mo moved to defend Su Yue and was caught by Su Chen's sudden attack. (Chapters 25–26)

Although Mo Dayan was physically stronger and stood at the peak of the ninth Body Tempering layer, Su Chen broke his ribs, both arms, and both legs before he could recover. The clan later judged Mo guilty of lying to and betraying a master, while also punishing Su Chen for excessive force. Later references consistently describe Mo as crippled, and the incident becomes Su Chen's example of acting decisively without first obtaining formal proof. (Chapters 26–28, 34, 45, and 93)

Appearance and personality

Mo Dayan is a burly man about forty years old. He has a grizzled beard that gives him a fierce appearance and is introduced drinking from a bowl with his chest partly exposed. His injuries in Chapter 26 leave him unable to stand, and later passages describe him as crippled. (Chapters 25–26)

He is contemptuous, bullying, and confident that Su Chen's blindness has stripped him of practical authority. He hides behind household logistics and the support of Su Yue while presenting his obstruction as mere circumstance. Even after all four limbs are broken, he tries to stop the other charioteers from testifying, showing stubborn allegiance to the faction behind the scheme. (Chapters 25–27)

Abilities and cultivation

Mo Dayan is a martial artist at the peak of the ninth layer of Body Tempering, one step below becoming an Origin Qi Scholar. He is slightly stronger than Su Chen in raw physical power at the time of their fight and, as a clan charioteer, is expected to combine driving with protective duties. (Chapters 25–26)

He demonstrates no named technique, weapon skill, or bloodline ability. Surprise and Su Chen's precise attacks prevent him from using his strength effectively: a collision breaks a rib, and the following joint attacks destroy his limbs. The corpus records no recovery, cultivation advancement, or later fighting ability. (Chapters 26–45)

Relationships

• Su Chen: Mo Dayan joins the effort to humiliate and obstruct him. Su Chen cripples Mo and later cites the incident as proof that he will punish suspected betrayal without waiting for evidence. (Chapters 25–28 and 93)
• Su Yue: Mo protects Su Yue's scheme by withholding information about the trapped carriage and tries to intervene after Su Yue is injured. (Chapters 25–27)
