Although his office is meant to police Origin Qi Scholars, his allegiance to the city’s Bloodline Nobility Clans turns the bureau against its new Knowledge Executor, Su Chen, and leads to Liu’s death during a staged apology. Biography

A captured public office

When Su Chen arrives in Clear River, Liu Wuya commands an Origin Bureau of twenty-eight Origin Qi Scholars and three hundred Body Tempering cultivators, enough to handle ordinary supernatural disputes. Liu is initially absent, but his later meeting with Su Chen reveals the actual limit on that official power: after Su Chen arrests Sun Mao and Yu Chengshui for a deadly street fight, Liu calmly explains that the Long and Lian clans have demanded their release. He acknowledges the bureau’s legal duty while treating clan influence as the practical authority, then warns Su Chen to take care on his way home. The empty, sealed street and watching Origin Bureau personnel outside enable the released prisoners’ clans to ambush Su Chen immediately afterward. (Chapters 348 and 355–356)

An Siyuan later identifies Liu as a government official under the ten clans’ control and admits that the City Lord cannot directly replace an appointee chosen by higher authorities. Liu’s position therefore helps the nobility coalition neutralize one of the city’s public-security branches while preserving a legal façade. When Su Chen captures Long Shaoyou and Lian Jiao, Liu joins the clans’ exchange plan: he will apologize, approach under cover of submission, and use his Water-Cleaving Spirit Sword to stab Su Chen once the hostages are safe. The apology at Ten Kilometers Pavilion

At the exchange, Liu sits beside Long Qingjiang and reacts with surprise when Long offers Su Chen a place in the clan camp. After Su Chen refuses, Liu performs the agreed apology and suppresses his anger as Su Chen repeatedly claims not to hear him, drawing him closer. Liu places a hand on his sword and begins the louder apology, intending to turn proximity into an assassination opportunity. Su Chen has anticipated the plan: before Liu can draw, an Armor-Piercing Awl followed by a Raging Inferno Fist tears through his throat and decapitates him. (Chapters 363–364)

Liu’s death allows Su Chen, as Knowledge Executor, to seize temporary control of the bureau. Su Chen purges Liu’s committed followers, while more neutral officials accept that succession as lawful until a replacement arrives. Later appointments struggle to reproduce Liu’s obedience network, showing that his political importance lay not merely in personal cultivation but in the selective patronage through which he kept a public force aligned with the clans. Appearance and personality

Liu Wuya is described as a long-whiskered man. No age, build, clothing, or other stable physical trait is supplied. (Chapter 355)

He presents himself as calm, courteous, and pragmatic, using the weakness of the Origin Bureau to rationalize submission to stronger clans. His behavior during the ambush and hostage exchange shows that the courtesy is instrumental: he can warn a subordinate in veiled language, support an attack under official cover, and turn an apology into an assassination plan. Anger breaks through when Su Chen humiliates him, but he suppresses it long enough to approach as instructed. The corpus does not reveal when he entered the clans’ service, what payment or pressure secured his loyalty, or whether he retained any competing allegiance to the empire. Abilities and cultivation

Liu Wuya is explicitly a Yang Opening Realm cultivator. His bloodline, cultivation technique, advancement history, and precise level within the realm are unknown. (Chapters 348 and 364)

Yang Opening cultivation and command

His realm places him at the top of the Origin Bureau alongside only one other Yang Opening cultivator, giving him both personal deterrence and authority over its lower-ranked personnel. The bureau can also request help from the city government or nearby garrison against stronger threats, but Liu’s alignment with the nobility clans compromises how that institutional power is used. The corpus never gives him a completed fight, named barrier, movement skill, sensory technique, or demonstrated range, so his combat capacity should not be inferred from the general abilities of other Yang Opening cultivators. Water-Cleaving Spirit Sword

The Water-Cleaving Spirit Sword is the named weapon designated for Liu’s planned surprise attack on Su Chen. He rests a hand on its hilt during the apology but is struck through the throat before drawing or activating it. The text therefore establishes a physical sword, intent, and name, but not any special mechanics, element, power source, range, cost, or effects; it also does not show whether a same-named Origin Skill accompanies the weapon. Liu’s defeat demonstrates the decisive limit on his power: proximity and rank do not protect him from a prepared surprise attack. Su Chen’s Armor-Piercing Awl opens the throat, the Raging Inferno Fist detonates through the wound, and decapitation kills him before any countermeasure is shown. His latest state is unambiguously deceased, with no surviving technique, clone, or recovery. (Chapter 364)

Relationships

  • Su Chen: Liu is Su Chen’s nominal superior but releases clan prisoners and facilitates an ambush against him. Their conflict ends when Su Chen anticipates Liu’s staged apology and kills him before he can strike. (Chapters 355–364)
  • An Siyuan: An Siyuan regards Liu as an official captured by the nobility clans but lacks direct authority to replace him. Liu’s death removes that obstacle and briefly places the Origin Bureau under Su Chen’s control. (Chapters 360 and 365–368)
