Lin Chenyuan is Lin Mengze’s third child, a politically capable prince who competes with Lin Wenjun and later succeeds to Long Sang’s throne.

Contest for the throne

Lin Chenyuan welcomes Su Chen to Long Coiling City and uses Su Chen’s dispute with Lin Wenjun to advance both their interests. He helps frame the Ten Thousand Swords Mountain request as a bargain for the Heavenly Might Battalion, allowing Su Chen to gain the soldiers while Lin Chenyuan damages his brother’s position, wins support from the Bloodline Nobility Clans, and strengthens his own claim to the throne. Lin Wenjun later regains influence and Lin Chenyuan is denounced, but Lin Chenyuan’s private investigation uncovers evidence linking his brother’s recovery to the old plot against the Heavenly Might Battalion. When the Six Kingdoms overthrow Lin Mengze, Su Chen spares Lin Chenyuan and has him appointed successor; he later rules Long Sang and monitors the Ravagers. (Chapters 968, 1001, 1086)
