Ba Lieyuan is You Tianyang’s physically powerful but uncomplicated subordinate. While Su Chen impersonates his master, Ba Lieyuan joins Zhu Xianyao’s search for Kapius’s hidden stores and later fights the Sand Race as one of the expedition’s elite Yang Opening cultivators. (Chapters 523–561)

Biography

The Kapius expedition

Ba Lieyuan grows frustrated after the expedition spends seven days failing to find Kapius’s secret caches. His inability to notice that Su Chen has replaced You Tianyang helps preserve the impersonation, but his concern for his supposed master becomes useful leverage when the group must negotiate with the Immortal Temple. Shi Mingfeng silences Ba Lieyuan’s hostility by reminding him that cooperation is the best way to secure You Tianyang’s release. (Chapters 523 and 539–544)

Ba Lieyuan then helps Zhu Xianyao and Zhao Jingwen defeat Qi Shenyuan’s force before joining the combined assault on the Sand Race. His raw strength and elite status contribute to a lopsided victory in which the allied Zhu Clan and Immortal Temple forces suffer relatively little. Appearance and personality

Ba Lieyuan is an eight-foot-tall, muscular, bald man. His imposing physique matches his direct manner. (Chapter 523)
