The Grinding Sound Fruit ritual
Shelly ruled Grind Sail Tower as a First-level apprentice desperate to reach the next level. He abducted girls, including Penny, and fed suffering into a ritual centered on Grinding Sound Fruit and vengeful spirits. When Saul broke into the tower, Shelly cut his own body to release the bound girls' souls and used the array, illusions, and shock magic to resist. Saul killed him and later searched the remains, ending an advancement scheme that had made the town's children expendable. (Chapters 102–110)
Appearance and personality
Shelly is hairless and appears naked during the ritual, his body treated as part of its machinery. He is secretive, cruel, and consumed by advancement anxiety, disguising predation behind a lord's authority.
