Biography
Interrogator and protective father
Paul first meets Saul as the gloomy Third-Level Apprentice assigned to question him on arrival in Sky City. He lights a candle that helps test deception and warns Saul not to lie, but his official severity contrasts with his private life: the child Mina immediately runs to him as “Daddy.” When Mina is altered by magical experiments, Paul provides information, tries to avoid further danger, and takes her back to their temporary home. He understands that she is no longer ordinary but remains committed to protecting and educating her. (Chapters 754–755, 773–789)
Appearance and personality
Paul is a gloomy, expressionless man whose stern professional manner softens around Mina. Cautious and protective, he accepts personal risk when his daughter's welfare is involved.
Abilities
He is a Third-Level Apprentice skilled in interrogation and uses a lit magical candle to constrain or expose lies.
