Biography

Captivity and attempted escape

Oqili is an aging true wizard held for years by the Old Witch, who uses captives as both assistants and materials in her body-modification research. He recognizes that Saul offers the cooperation needed for escape, secretly gathers potion ingredients, suppresses the cage formations, and frees Saul even when abandoning him would be safer. Their flight fails to remove the Old Witch's threat, and her later possession of Oqili's adventurer-style robes implies that he did not survive or regain freedom. His technical ingenuity nevertheless gives Saul valuable knowledge of formation suppression. (Chapters 515–526, 539)

Appearance and personality

Oqili is an older man with greying temples and age-spotted skin, dressed before capture in practical adventurer-style robes. Worn down but observant, he is suspicious, resourceful, and capable of limited loyalty under pressure.

Abilities

He is a true wizard knowledgeable about potions, body modification, and compounds that suppress magical formations without destroying them.

Relationships

• Old Witch: She imprisons, injures, and experiments on Oqili for years.
• Saul: Oqili recruits Saul into his escape plan and frees his cage, while Saul learns from his improvised potion technique.
