Biography

Morgue senior and damaged survivor

Hayden has already spent years handling corpses when Saul begins work in the second morgue, and his quiet competence helps define the practical routine behind the tower's grotesque experiments. He trades materials and information, studies under Kaz, and becomes one of the few seniors whose dealings with Saul are more transactional than predatory. The tower's crises and bodily research nevertheless leave Hayden in poor condition. When Saul departs for the Borderland, Byron judges him unfit for travel, so Saul leaves him with their mentor Kaz. Appearance and personality
