Protecting Penny in Grind Sail Town
Ada greets Saul as an old village friend, although the impossible familiarity contributes to the mystery surrounding Grind Sail Town's altered identities. He works the mayor's land and confines his blind sister Penny at home out of fear that the town will select her as a Grinding Sound Fruit sacrifice. When that selection comes, Ada resists despite knowing he cannot defeat the guards. Saul ultimately returns Penny and breaks the town's cycle, but the later Nightmare Butterfly remembers that Ada died before she could fulfill her plan to die beside him. (Chapters 95–110, 271–275)
Appearance and personality
Ada is a strong, weathered young farmer who is expressive and quick-tempered. He is honest, sometimes overprotective, and defined by sincere devotion to Penny even when fear makes his protection confining.
Abilities
Ada has ordinary physical strength and farming experience but no confirmed wizard abilities.
