Ning encounters the censer among the rare treasures of Thundersouth Palace. Its cultivation value makes it more important to him than an ordinary combat treasure. (Chapter 1069)

Safekeeping in the Three Realms

Because Ning regards the censer as vital to his cultivation, he sends it through transcendent space to the Three Realms, where his Primaltwin can use and protect it while his true body enters the Waveshift Realm. (Chapter 1082)

Supporting insight and Daomerge

Ning's Primaltwin uses the censer while memorizing exalted Daos, achieving a substantial fraction of the true body's pace. During Ning's Daomerge, the Primaltwin activates its incense at Vastheaven Palace to support the unified effort. (Chapters 1160 and 1286)
