History
Purchase for a lightning art
Ning asks Daolord Badlands about buying the gourd while assembling the materials for his lightning secret arts. Badlands values it at roughly half a million cubes and describes it as inexpensive but especially useful to World-level cultivators. (Chapter 859)
An Astral Islands trump card
Ning holds the gourd back as a final trump card during his early Astral Islands challenges. He later uses its continuous lightning alongside six matching Eternal swords, making his attacks difficult for rivals such as Kilostar to withstand. (Chapters 878 and 887)
Lightning absorbed
When building nine lightning essence foundations inside his body, Ning releases the gourd's two Dao lightnings and draws them into their corresponding foundations. This ends the gourd's role as the container for those two streams. (Chapter 921)
