World God Blackmist — Desolate Era

World God Blackmist is a senior swordsman of Fogstone, the Starlord's beloved second uncle, and Ji Ning's first major sword mentor after leaving the Three Realms. He dies after activating the incomplete fourth stage of the Fogstone Apocalypse to protect the Starlord from God Emperor Blacklotus.

Biography

Sword mentor on Fogstone

Blackmist is one of Fogstone's nine World-level guardians and one of its three World Gods. He has watched “Starchild,” the future Starlord, grow up and teaches him sword arts before the younger cultivator surpasses him. The death of Blackmist's own disciple leaves him unwilling to accept another formal student, but it does not extinguish his willingness to guide a serious swordsman. (Chapters 764–766)

When Elder God Darknorth asks to join Fogstone, Blackmist first observes another disciple test him. He sees that Ning's apparently even exchange conceals unusually complete control and asks to compete personally. A weak blood incarnation cannot overcome Ning's flawless defense, so Blackmist suppresses his true body's power and enters the spar himself. His goal is evaluation and instruction rather than victory. (Chapters 765–766)

Blackmist unfolds a Sword World whose ghostly, brutal strikes emerge from surrounding layers of dark sword-mist. Ning is forced to defend against a complete system rather than isolated techniques, and the pressure resolves questions that years of solitary practice did not. Blackmist ends the match before it becomes destructive, invites Ning to return after gaining new insights, and later lets him inspect the sword arts he created. Ning treats this care as mentorship even without formal apprenticeship. (Chapters 766–768)

War for Fogstone

Blackmist fights beside the Starlord when Immortal Owlsoar brings a Minor Thousand Elder Gods Formation against Fogstone. The conflict escalates into God Emperor Blacklotus's campaign to destroy the dominion and seize its legacies. Blackmist's first priority becomes the survival of Starchild and the lineage rather than preserving his own future. (Chapters 790–801)

When ordinary strength cannot stop Blacklotus, Blackmist activates the incomplete fourth stage of the Fogstone Apocalypse. Earlier stages can be ended safely before divine power is exhausted, but the fragmentary fourth stage begins an irreversible conversion of body and truesoul into fogstone. Blackmist knowingly accepts death because the temporary increase raises him to the Starlord's combat level and lets his defensive sword web delay the enemy. (Chapters 801–803)

Blackmist orders Starchild to flee and abandon revenge until he becomes a Daolord, insisting that otherwise the sacrifice will accomplish nothing. Six swords form a sphere of black mist around him, holding back Blacklotus's repeated Eternal-weapon attacks even though he cannot win. His divine power drains rapidly, and he fears only that he will die before the Starlord escapes. (Chapters 802–804)

Death and legacy

Daolord Solesky's arrival stops Blacklotus, but it comes too late to reverse the transformation. When Starchild asks the unknown senior for help, Blackmist tries to prevent him from risking offense; Solesky examines the condition and finds that even the truesoul is becoming stone. Blackmist accepts the end calmly, telling Starchild that previous elders died in despair while he can die happily because the child he protected is alive. (Chapters 804–805)

His aura goes out and his entire body becomes a gently smiling statue. The death is definitive. Ning later names the first stance of his Quintessence Sword-Intent “Blackmist,” preserving the teacher's influence in an offensive technique that draws more deeply on Violetjewel's core. Appearance and personality

Blackmist is a black-haired man in sloppy, poorly kept clothing. He often sits with a cup of wine and can appear drunk even while judging a sword exchange precisely. During the forbidden transformation, his skin turns stony gray, radiates white light, and finally becomes a complete fogstone statue. (Chapters 765 and 802–805)

He is informal, perceptive, and protective. The loss of his disciple makes him reject the title of master, but he still gives Ning careful instruction and lets the younger man study his work. His love for Starchild is explicitly paternal: he chooses irreversible death, then uses his final strength and words to make the younger cultivator leave instead of wasting the rescue on revenge. Abilities and cultivation

Blackmist is a World God Sword Immortal who has reached the Sword World level. His normal art emphasizes unpredictable, enveloping defense; the forbidden fourth stage of the Fogstone Apocalypse temporarily raises his raw power at the cost of certain death. (Chapters 765–805)

Blackmist Sword World

At Sword World level, Blackmist's understanding forms an internally complete system. Countless sword-shadows spread like black mist, with each strike emerging unpredictably while the whole field presses inward. At full World God power the domain can destroy a chaosworld, but Blackmist suppresses it during instruction so Ning can study rather than be annihilated. (Chapters 766–767)

His path is defensive compared with the Starlord's offense. When using six swords against Blacklotus, the lights cross into a spherical web of black mist that blocks repeated crescent saber attacks. The art can hold a stronger enemy for a time, but maintaining it under the fourth-stage transformation consumes divine power too quickly for a lasting stalemate. (Chapters 802–804)

Blood incarnation

Blackmist can release a drop of blood that forms an incarnation identical in appearance but weaker than an ordinary Elder God. He uses it to test Ning without applying a World God's overwhelming strength. The incarnation retains sophisticated sword insight, yet insufficient divine power leaves it unable to break Ning's balanced defense, prompting Blackmist to replace it with his suppressed true body. (Chapter 766)

Fogstone Apocalypse

The first three stages of the Fogstone Apocalypse are complete and safe if the user stops before exhausting divine power. The surviving fourth-stage record is incomplete. Activating it produces an enormous burst that raises Blackmist to the Starlord's level, but immediately begins turning flesh and truesoul into fogstone. Once started, the process cannot be halted by Blackmist or Fogstone's other experts. (Chapters 802–805)

The technique also accelerates energy consumption. Blackmist can maintain his empowered defense only for roughly the time needed to boil a kettle of tea, and death follows even if the battle ends earlier. The transformation is therefore a sacrificial last resort, not a sustainable cultivation advancement. (Chapters 803–805)
