Violetgrass

Violetgrass is a young but top-tier Celestial Immortal who serves Gatemaster Azurefox in the Seamless Gate. Trained from childhood by Celestial Immortal Blackheaven, she commands the eighteen-Immortal strike force sent to destroy Stillwater City's strongest defenders.

Biography

Service under the Seamless Gate

Violetgrass first appears as one of the maidens attending Gatemaster Azurefox, her face marked by a violet flower tattoo. She has followed powerful figures since youth and eventually enters Azurefox's service after becoming the youngest of the Seven Female Immortals associated with Hundred Tombs Mountain. Blackheaven personally helps establish her cultivation foundation, and the Gatemaster's favor gives her authority over older Celestial Immortals despite her comparatively short training history. Charged with removing Ji Ning, Violetgrass calls in the second of three favors Blackheaven once promised her. She gives him the Seamless Gate's intelligence and asks for a reliable assassination plan, dismissing his fear of the Daofather behind Ning's Eight-Nine Arcane Art. Blackheaven nevertheless sends only a clone, and the attempt fails. When Ning later disappears into an Oldjade danger zone, Violetgrass welcomes the possibility that the threat has eliminated himself without another direct risk to her side. (Chapters 438 and 456)

Assault on Stillwater City

As open war approaches, Azurefox appoints Violetgrass to lead seventeen other supreme Celestial Immortals against Stillwater City. Violetgrass explains that their squad is one of the few intended to annihilate rather than merely probe: Celestial Immortal Unity cannot be recruited, and Ning's rapid growth makes escape unacceptable. Her plan depends on group formations supplied by the Godking, coordinated sealing, and careful concentration of force rather than eighteen separate duels. (Chapter 487)

The force first pools Immortal energy through the Baxia Dragonturtle Formation, then shifts to the more demanding Turtle-Snake Formation. Its turtle aspect withstands attacks while the serpent aspect imitates Heaven Swallower and traps Unity. Violetgrass directs the group to finish Unity while the defensive structure holds off Ning, correctly identifying the value of defeating opponents one at a time but fatally underestimating Ning's newly increased power. Ning's sword-finger tears through the formation and kills six members in the first breach. The survivors scatter as subsequent attacks reduce the force to Violetgrass and two Immortals hiding in estates. Violetgrass's azure barrier endures one exchange and she recognizes that the estates cannot escape Yu Wei's suppressive greatclock, but she cannot outrun Ning. True Immortal Gaudy breaks the outer seal and orders Ning to stop; all six sword-fingers strike before the rescue reaches her, shattering the barrier and reducing her body to dust. Consequences of her death

Violetgrass had two True Immortal rescue talismans and Blackheaven's own talisman. She shatters the first two but leaves Blackheaven's untouched because she fears he would sacrifice himself trying to save her. Her death provokes Blackheaven, her Hundred Tombs Mountain sisters, Gaudy, and the Seamless Gate to organize retaliation against Ning, turning a failed strike mission into another escalation of the Realmwar. Appearance and personality

Violetgrass is a maiden with a violet flower tattoo covering part of her face and is later shown seated on a throne while directing golden-robed Celestial Immortals. She is talented, proud, and impatient with caution. Yet her final choice not to summon Blackheaven reveals genuine attachment beneath that confidence: she spends the rescue options she believes will not pull her oldest protector into certain death. Abilities and cultivation

Celestial Immortal cultivation

Violetgrass is a top-tier Celestial Immortal, described as comparable to the other supreme Celestial Immortals in her strike team. Blackheaven trained her step by step and helped establish the foundation that let her overcome her tribulation unusually quickly. Her rank provides Pure Yang energy, flight, magic-treasure control, and the ability to join high-level formations, but it remains below an actual True Immortal and cannot withstand Ning's True-Immortal-level attack power. Baxia Dragonturtle Formation

The eighteen attackers pool Immortal energy through the Baxia Dragonturtle Formation. Its main function is defense: the combined structure spreads and amplifies the members' energy so each can launch attacks far beyond an ordinary isolated Celestial Immortal. Coordination is essential, and the formation's protection fails once Ning's concentrated sword-finger exceeds the level it was designed to stop. (Chapters 488–489)

Turtle-Snake Formation

The Turtle-Snake Formation is a more complex group configuration. The turtle portion maintains a defensive shell while the azure serpent attacks and uses an imitation of Heaven Swallower to trap a target. Its offense and defense are intended to dominate anyone below the Empyrean God or True Immortal threshold, but the eighteen members can only barely execute it. Ning's breakthrough pushes his attack to that missing threshold, allowing one blow to rip the shared structure apart. (Chapter 489)

Protective barrier and rescue talismans

An azure defensive light around Violetgrass survives one of Ning's later attacks but visibly shudders, establishing it as a limited barrier rather than invulnerability. She also carries at least three emergency connections: two talismans belonging to True Immortals and one from Blackheaven. Breaking a talisman alerts or summons help, but it does not teleport Violetgrass to safety or guarantee that the responder can arrive before a fast attack lands. (Chapters 490 and 496)

• Celestial Immortal Blackheaven: Her childhood teacher and protector. Violetgrass spends one of his promised favors against Ning but refuses to break his rescue talisman when doing so might cost him his life. (Chapters 438 and 496)
