Northmont Baiwei

Northmont Baiwei is a young noble of the Northmont clan whose early friendship gives Ji Ning access to Stillwater City's schools, people, and resources. His judgment of talent and willingness to support Ning matter more to the story than his own combat cultivation.

Biography

Swallow Mountain and first alliance

Baiwei arrives at the Ji clan's territory to negotiate for the elemental ore mine on behalf of the Marquisate of Stillwater. He offers the Ji clan a thirty-percent share rather than simply seizing the resource and intervenes when a Raindragon Guard attempts to arrest clan members. Impressed by Ji Ning, he invites Ning to find him in Stillwater City, establishing a connection with a powerful local family before Ning leaves Swallow Mountain. (Chapters 136–139)

Guide to Stillwater City

When Ning arrives, Baiwei welcomes him into his Ninestar Immortal Carriage, introduces him to the Carefree Caverns, and explains the commandery's major schools and internal politics. He supplies a detailed reference book and recommends institutions based on Ning's circumstances. During a conflict with Northmont Fox, Baiwei initially worries that Ning will risk too much on his behalf, but accepts Ning as his champion; Ning's victory and revealed Dao Domain deepen their friendship. Enduring support

Baiwei continues to provide intelligence and social access as Ning enters the Black-White College. He follows Ning's later progress and celebrates without reserve when his friend wins the Conclave of Immortal Destiny, admitting that even he had never imagined first place. Appearance and personality

Baiwei is introduced as a black-uniformed young man. He is sociable, well-informed, and fond of making friends, but his generosity is not merely strategic: he worries about Ning's safety, shares useful information freely, and reacts to Ning's victories with genuine delight. As a Northmont noble, Baiwei can speak for the Marquisate in negotiations, overawe a Raindragon Guard, travel in an autonomous Immortal carriage, and obtain detailed intelligence on Stillwater's major powers. Talent assessment

Baiwei recognizes Ning's potential before the wider commandery does. He stakes reputation and resources on Ning in the betting arena and provides the background reports later used by Ning and the Black-White College.
