Immortal Floatcloud

Immortal Floatcloud is a hundred-thousand-year-old Loose Immortal whom Patriarch Arcanum binds to assassinate Ji Ning within three days. He prepares an instant-kill needle and isolation formation, but Ning's unexpected Primaltwin survives until outside reinforcements break the trap.

Biography

Forced three-day oath

Arcanum selects Floatcloud because the old Immortal is nearing the point when later tribulations may destroy him. Floatcloud understands that refusing a clan patriarch is not a realistic choice and swears before the Dao of the Heavens to kill Ning within three days without exposing the Youngflame clan. Success would permit reincarnation; failure means his soul will shatter. The oath converts a difficult mission into a narrowing deadline with no survivable retreat. (Chapters 294–296)

Stalking the imperial capital

Floatcloud changes his appearance, suppresses his aura, and watches Ning from the Heavenly Treasures Mountain. He refuses to attack within its layered formations, then repeatedly loses opportunities when Ning travels with Princess Xiyue, remains inside King Yan's estate, or brings Golden Imperials. Patient surveillance turns into panic as half the deadline passes, but he continues seeking a location where an isolation treasure can delay rescuers. (Chapters 296–305)

Cloudwater Manor ambush

At Cloudwater Manor, Floatcloud launches the Whitebone Immortal Slaying Needle without warning and immediately seals the area inside the Bloodcoil Heavenlock Formation. Ning's true body barely survives the needle, then withdraws while a peak-Primal Primaltwin confronts the assassin. Floatcloud uses forbidden power, three flying swords, and obscuring fog, but cannot break Ning's Lotusflower Swordland before thirty-six Kindwater Loose Immortals shatter the outer formation. Acceptance of death

Once the time advantage disappears, Floatcloud stops attacking and asks about Ning's defensive sword-art. He recognizes Ning's talent, accepts that the defeat is deserved, and asks Ning to kill him. Ning pierces his golden-lotus Primal; the violated oath then descends and annihilates Floatcloud's soul. His final thoughts blame Arcanum for forcing a doomed mission rather than Ning for surviving it. (Chapters 311–312)

Appearance and personality

Floatcloud is normally a bald old man, though he alters his features while stalking Ning; his hair turns white and flies wildly when he uses forbidden power. He begins disciplined and resolved, but the absolute deadline exposes mounting desperation. At the end, that frenzy gives way to calm professional respect for Ning's technique and clear awareness that he was used as expendable clan property. (Chapters 294–311)

Abilities and cultivation

Whitebone Immortal Slaying Needle

This single-use assassination treasure travels too quickly for Ning to summon his Primaltwin and is expected to kill ordinary Loose Immortals or at least wound the strongest. It pierces the Waterflame Lotus and forces six consecutive Starseizing-enhanced sword blocks, nearly destroying Ning's body. Its limitation is finality: once that one strike is exhausted, Floatcloud loses his best instant kill. (Chapters 308–309)

Bloodcoil Heavenlock Formation

A golden heart generates thousands of blood-vessel strands that seal a region and flex to deflect outside attacks. The formation is designed to buy one-on-one killing time, not defeat the target itself. It consumes its blood reserve under repeated impacts, accumulates cracks, and finally breaks after twelve attacks from the Kindwater Godsnake. The treasure is single-use and extremely expensive. (Chapters 309–311)

Heaven, Earth, Mortal sword formation

Floatcloud uses a forbidden technique to make his golden-lotus Primal erupt with additional elemental ki, empowering three top-grade flying swords arranged as Heaven, Earth, and Mortal. A vast diagram gathers clouds and fog and drives the swords down with world-like suppressive force. Ning's Primaltwin can contest the attack and shelter behind Lotusflower Swordland, while the forbidden output cannot be sustained indefinitely. (Chapters 310–311)

Heaven-Covering Fog

The fog fills the sealed region so densely that even divine sense cannot penetrate it, supporting hidden changes in speed and technique. Maintaining it consumes enormous mental energy and prevents Floatcloud from keeping his flying swords at peak power. It is therefore a concealment-versus-output tradeoff, not an unconditional advantage. (Chapter 310)
