Autumn Leaf begins as Ji Ning's personal attendant and becomes the elder-sister figure who preserves Brightheart Island, cares for his family, and gives him an unchanged home across the vast scale of his cultivation journey.

Biography

Childhood at the Ji estate

Autumn Leaf serves Ning from childhood, explaining the customs, servants, and luxuries of the Ji clan while helping him navigate a life very different from the one he remembers. Her attention is personal rather than merely ceremonial. She asks Ning to stop at the Blacktooth Tribe because she misses Spring Grass, revealing that her loyalties extend beyond courtly duty to the relationships formed around the young master. After Spring Grass's death and Ning's departure for the wider world, Autumn Leaf remains one of the few living people tied to his earliest home. Ning thinks of her while trapped in distant danger and assumes she is still waiting. When he returns four years later, their tearful reunion confirms that he regards her love as familial, not romantic.
