Role in the wider conflict

Pavina fought in the Orom World as a Revenant Silver Attendant cultivating Pure Death. Rather than depend on obvious offensive skills, she chose to turn her entire advance into an expression of inevitable death, imposing judgment on her opponent until even a conventional duel resembled execution. Her toughness and conceptual clarity made her a valuable sparring partner for Zac rather than simply another arena combatant. (Chapters 803 and 807)

Pavina later taught Zac Atwood the fundamentals of Techniques, exposing blind spots created by his largely self-directed cultivation. Their sparring also gave him a demanding benchmark for the Dao Heart pressure of Fatehew: an effect useful against later enemies had failed to decide their bouts.
