Entry into the wider conflict

Ibtep was selected by the Zhix leader to accompany Zac Atwood, answer questions about Zhix customs, learn the outsiders’ ways, and take responsibility for cooperation between their hives. Ibtep accepted the diplomatic assignment and later followed Zac, Thea Marshall, and ten Zhix scouts through the teleporter, turning an initially cautious exchange into practical wartime cooperation. Later responsibilities and consequences

Ibtep remained with the expedition when thousands of Zhix entered battle and kept mostly silent during later Mystic Realm negotiations, serving more as an observant intermediary than a leading speaker. Centuries of local change later, Ibtep cautiously scouted from atop the twelve-meter mount Sausage, spending fifteen minutes sensing aboveground conditions before ordering the beast to remain hidden and digging up alone, showing that the envoy’s role had developed into independent field reconnaissance.
