Sunder
Sunder is a homeless teenage boy sheltered by a Rylon church. He befriends Charlotte, helps her investigate the church's disappearing guests, survives an attempt by church agents to kill those being released, and returns with Anna during the confrontation beneath the church.
Biography
Shelter and disappearances
Sunder has stayed in the church's common sleeping room longer than the other guests and is asked to help Charlotte settle in. He shares food, introduces the other residents, and explains that guests leave after a short program, while acknowledging that he has his own painful past. As he and Charlotte notice that departed residents do not appear to establish the promised new lives, friendship turns into a shared investigation; he also keeps her conspicuous hair and magic secret. (Chapters 952–955)
Release, return, and survival
When Sunder and Charlotte are released, church men attempt to garrote them rather than let witnesses leave. Sunder carries a knife and reacts quickly enough to block the wire, but he lacks the strength to defeat trained Qi users; Charlotte's magic saves them. He later recognizes Anna as someone connected to Charlotte and guides her back to the church. There he tries to aid the trapped group with his dagger and cover, but a Light beam nearly kills him before Simyon intervenes. He remains alive when the scene ends. (Chapters 956 and 963–966)
Appearance and personality
Sunder is a teenage boy with a bandage covering one eye and an unshaved, messy-bearded adult sharing his room; the beard belongs to the other resident, not Sunder. He is sociable, generous with scarce food, and attentive to the vulnerabilities of younger guests. His willingness to return to the church shows courage, but the text does not portray him as reckless about his limitations. (Chapters 952–955 and 966)
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
No magic core, Qi cultivation, named technique, or supernatural ability is confirmed for Sunder. He handles a knife, blocks a wire attack by reacting at the right moment, and uses pillars for cover during the church battle. His inability to overcome the church's trained attackers and his dependence on Charlotte and Simyon establish the limit of those practical skills. (Chapters 956 and 966)
