Sha Mo is the head of the Behemoth Clan, the largest clan in the Demonic Faction, and one of Pagna's strongest established warriors. He pursues the Dark Magus first as a resource and later as a personal enemy whose victories undermine Behemoth authority. His enormous body, overwhelming Qi, Descending Steps, and extended invisible force make him a battlefield-scale threat until Raze's Dark-core breakthrough reverses their final fight.

Biography

Claiming the Dark Magus

Sha Mo enters the story at Belil's table seeking confirmation that Neverfall will not interfere with his attempt to seize the Dark Magus. He wants the alchemist and his valuable creations under Behemoth control, and he responds to Crimson Crane resistance by authorizing his warriors to extract information by force. His first campaign therefore establishes both his material interest in Raze and his assumption that a large clan's strength entitles it to take what it wants. (Chapters 280–290)

The Crimson Crane's resistance and the deaths of Behemoth Pillars turn that calculation into hostility. At the faction gathering, Sha Mo stands among the Demonic leaders and later recognizes Raze despite his cover identity. He chooses not to attack immediately because the tournament can still benefit the faction and because Belil's position constrains him, but he makes clear that he intends to judge Raze's power himself. The delay is strategic, not reconciliation. (Chapters 571–577 and 611–677)

Assault on Flendon

After Raze takes control of the Dark Faction, Sha Mo attacks Flendon to strike at territory associated with him and restore Behemoth supremacy. He leads thousands of warriors, uses his Qi across kilometers, and personally overwhelms Safa, Simyon, and Liam. When Safa intercepts the finishing punch meant for Raze, Sha Mo tears a hole through her abdomen and leaves her apparently dead, making the conflict personal in the most direct possible way. (Chapters 833–890)

Safa's fall triggers Raze's unprecedented Dark-core breakthrough, restoring the appearance and nine-star magic of his Alterian body. Sha Mo is initially cautious, then finds that his durability and extended Qi cannot answer Raze's elemental control. Raze pins him with lightning, destroys his skin and lung with Dark magic, burns him while prolonging the pain, and leaves him barely alive specifically so that his remaining Qi can be extracted. The victory ends Sha Mo's bodily supremacy rather than merely forcing a retreat. (Chapters 891–894)

Raze finally performs Demonic Extraction on the dying Sha Mo. The clan head's body shrivels, darkens, and drops unrecognizable to the ground; narration then treats him as defeated and the threat as ended. Safa later revives through an effect she associates with the Lux Spear, but this does not reverse Sha Mo's fate. Subsequent chapters refer to Raze having defeated Sha Mo and the Behemoth Clan, with no later narrative action by Sha Mo himself. (Chapters 895 and 902; Chapters 1128 and 1182)

Appearance and personality

Sha Mo is nearly twice the size of the other people at his first meeting. He wears a thick black overcoat trimmed with fur, has scruffy black hair, and is compared more readily to a beast than a human. At the faction gathering he appears as a mountainous man resting a club on the ground. His cultivation preserves an appearance of roughly forty despite his being possibly close to two hundred years old. (Chapters 280, 571, and 893)

He is proud, domineering, and confident that power justifies leadership. He does not rush every confrontation—he can delay violence when faction politics or a tournament makes restraint useful—but humiliation steadily narrows his choices. His hatred of the Dark Magus ultimately outweighs the risk of Neverfall retaliation, and he treats Flendon's population and his own large army as instruments for restoring Behemoth standing. Even under Raze's final assault, his instincts remain those of a fighter certain that physical and cultivated superiority should decide the world. (Chapters 280–290, 613, 833–875, and 889–894)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Behemoth cultivation and Descending Steps

Sha Mo is a top Demonic cultivator whose precise stage is not assigned in the cited final fight, though he stands at the level of Pagna's great clan heads. His Qi reinforces an enormous, extremely durable body, exerts pressure capable of destabilizing weaker warriors, and powers strikes that can destroy low-stage middle warriors. His first Descending Step shakes terrain at least five kilometers outward; he can interrupt Raze's sequence with his own first step and follow with a fourth-step blow that sends Raze through a crater wall. (Chapters 613, 875–876, and 886)

Extended force and altered body

Sha Mo shapes Qi as invisible extensions compared to giant fists or snakes. The force can sweep groups, bind and pull a target, crush someone against the ground, destroy incoming attacks before contact, and strike from well beyond his body's ordinary reach. Its invisibility makes it difficult to read, while repeated impacts disrupt Raze's cells and bodily control. It remains connected to Sha Mo rather than becoming detached projectile Qi, and strong defenses, speed, or magic that immobilizes his body can counter its application. (Chapters 875, 889–890, and 893)

During the final fight, Sha Mo reveals a smaller body form that trades the visual mass of his usual shape for greater agility and a formal fighting stance. He combines it with rapid close combat and extended Qi, initially overwhelming Raze. The change does not make him invulnerable: Raze's temporary nine-star state uses wind to hold him, fire to erode his Qi defense, lightning to pin and disable him, and Dark magic to destroy tissue directly. Sha Mo's latest state is death after Demonic Extraction. (Chapters 888–895)

Relationships

  • Raze Cromwell: Sha Mo first wants to possess Raze's productive power, then seeks to punish him for the loss of Pillars and authority. Their final confrontation gives Raze his first Dark-core breakthrough and ends with Sha Mo's death by extraction.
  • Safa: Sha Mo strikes Safa while trying to finish Raze and leaves her apparently dead. Her fall causes the emotional shock behind Raze's breakthrough; her later revival is attributable to an uncertain Lux Spear effect, not mercy or failure deliberately chosen by Sha Mo.
  • Belil: Belil is a rival clan head whose protection of Raze's circle constrains Sha Mo for a time. Sha Mo seeks his permission or neutrality early, and later acts when he believes Neverfall may not intervene.
  • Behemoth Clan: Sha Mo rules through overwhelming personal power. His confidence keeps the army attacking, but his death and Raze's subsequent destruction of the field end the clan's campaign and eliminate its position as the dominant aggressor.

  • Club: Sha Mo carries a large club at the Demonic faction gathering, but his decisive combat feats come from his body, Qi, and martial techniques. The corpus does not establish a named power or special mechanic for the weapon. (Chapter 571)
