King Doclet
King Doclet is the elderly ruler of one of the two kingdoms governing ordinary territory within the Demonic Faction. He treats Flendon as taxable property while neglecting its defense, then launches a disastrous campaign when its people reject his authority.
Biography
The decision to crush Flendon
After his envoy Marcel is refused entry to Flendon, Doclet interprets the rejection as rebellion rather than a consequence of his kingdom's neglect. Confident in newly developed firearms, cannons, and ships, he orders an army of roughly fifty thousand toward the town and personally rides with it. He dismisses General Re's warning about the Dark Magus as rumor, believing technology and numbers make the kingdom untouchable even against Pagna warriors. (Chapters 908–919)
Failed invasion and execution
Doclet splits his force, sending a fleet to bombard Flendon while he confronts Rayna and demands the Dark Magus's surrender. Raze Cromwell destroys the fleet, blocks the infantry's bullets with an allied artifact, and routs the army after Doclet orders it to fire. Only then does the king recognize that the rumors may be true. Raze uses an advanced firearm of his own to shoot Doclet through the forehead, ending both the king's life and his attempt to reclaim the town by force. (Chapters 920–923)
Appearance and personality
Doclet is a fairly large man in his sixties with a grey beard. He has ruled for ten years after prevailing in struggles for the throne, implying political expertise, but he is vain, dismissive, and insulated from conditions in his own territory. His confidence turns to fear only after his technological advantage fails.
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
No Qi cultivation, magic, or personal combat skill is demonstrated. Doclet's power is institutional: taxation, royal command, a large conventional army, and investment in weapons technology. Those resources can threaten ordinary people, but their effectiveness collapses against opponents capable of artifact barriers, flight, and large-scale Qi attacks.
