Clipper

Clipper is a Behemoth Clan squad leader who commands the raid on the Dark Magus's alchemist building. A middle-stage close-range fighter, he helps overwhelm Reno and Kizer through numbers, then underestimates Raze Cromwell as an alchemist and dies to a single Eclipse Strike.

Biography

Raid on the alchemist building

Tired of waiting outside, Clipper orders Behemoth warriors into the building to drag out every alchemist. He studies Kizer and Reno's reputations, exploits the attackers' numerical superiority, and joins personally when he thinks the Crimson Crane's weakest member can be beaten. Although Reno's poison forces him to protect his hands with Qi, Clipper's flurry of punches and two-handed thrust help drive both defenders through the building wall. (Chapters 289–291)

Death by Eclipse Strike

When Raze appears in black robes, Clipper correctly identifies the Dark Magus but mistakes “alchemist” for weakness. He mocks the drawn sword and turns away to laugh, giving Raze an opening. Clipper senses that the incoming Qi is far above an initial-stage attack, yet cannot move or gather a proper defense in time. Eclipse Strike passes through him and wounds warriors behind him; Clipper asks what kind of alchemist Raze is as the life leaves his eyes and his body falls in two pieces. (Chapters 292–293)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not give Clipper a detailed physical description. His speech establishes an impatient, mocking commander who enjoys playing with weaker opponents and interprets clan numbers as personal safety. He is capable of battlefield assessment—he notices Reno's poison and Raze's power surge—but arrogance delays those realizations until after he has committed to dangerous exchanges. Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Clipper identifies himself as a middle-stage Pagna warrior. He fights with rapid punches, coats his hands in Qi to resist poison, and charges both fists into a central thrust powerful enough to break defensive footing and launch opponents through walls. His close-range power is substantial, but he has no demonstrated answer to a large projected sword technique when caught off guard and unable to gather Qi. (Chapters 290–292)

Relationships

• Reno: Clipper considers Reno the weakest Crimson Crane member, but Reno's poison remains dangerous enough that he must actively protect his hands.
• Kizer: Clipper helps the raiding force pressure Kizer and uses his own entry to break the defenders' stance.
• Raze Cromwell: Clipper recognizes Raze's identity while dismissing his combat capability. Raze kills him with one strike.

Items

• Spiked gloves: Clipper puts on spiked gloves before entering close combat with Reno. He supplements them with Qi protection against poison; no enchantment or later custody is established. (Chapters 290–291)
