Anise's Holy Water Bottle

Anise's Holy Water Bottle is a blessed glass vessel that accompanied Anise Slywood into the Fount of Light from childhood. It can turn ordinary water into Holy Water without a separate ritual, and Kristina Rogeris recovered it with Anise's other relics. (Chapter 202)

History

Consecration in the Fount

Like Anise's mace, the bottle entered the Fount of Light with her from the beginning of her training and accumulated its own blessings. By the time of her travels, it could produce Holy Water directly rather than requiring the usual ritual and work associated with its preparation. (Chapter 202)

After Anise's death, the bottle was stored in the Vatican's Special Relics Vault. Kristina found it still containing genuine Holy Water, placed it in her pocket, and took it together with Anise's rosary, mace, and robe. Anise gave the collection to support Kristina's journey while warning her not to lose her own identity in the inheritance. (Chapter 202)

Uncertain later record

The later appearance of a tiny glass bottle in Kristina's possession is explicitly described as breath freshener rather than Holy Water. The text does not securely identify that container as Anise's sacred vessel, so it does not establish a later use, transfer, destruction, or replacement of the relic. (Chapter 313)

Abilities and properties

  • Placing ordinary water inside the vessel produces Holy Water without cumbersome rites or preparation. (Chapter 202)
  • The resulting water dissolves demonic power and burns demonfolk blood and flesh, giving the vessel both purifying and offensive utility. (Chapter 202)
  • Casting an additional miracle upon the produced Holy Water turns it into a healing potion with strong restorative effects. The added miracle is required for that enhanced use. (Chapter 202)
  • Even after enhancement, the potion is described as inferior to a true elixir, establishing a limit on its restorative potency. (Chapter 202)
  • The bottle creates Holy Water from water supplied to it; the account does not describe it as producing liquid from nothing or holding an unlimited reserve. (Chapter 202)
