Kamash

Kamash is the ancient chieftain and king of the giants, remembered as the largest and strongest giant in history. As the Earthshaker and eldest of Fury's adopted children, he sells his race's allegiance to the Demon Kings and leads hundreds of empowered giants against the Plains of Palmir. (Chapters 53, 91, and 274)

Biography

Hauria and the Specter

Three hundred years before the main war in Hauria, Kamash marches on Palmir to prove loyalty to his foster father, the Demon King of Fury. Hamel and Vermouth work together to destroy his limbs and stop his advance, after which Vermouth beheads him with the Holy Sword; surviving giants carry away his remains. Amelia Merwin later reconstructs the corpse with replacement limbs and necromancy, suppressing most of his emotions while preserving hatred for his killers. The undead Kamash recognizes echoes of both men in Eugene's flames, refuses Amelia's order to evade a fatal attack, and fights on out of pride and revenge. Eugene Lionheart severs his limbs, beheads him again, and burns the corpse to prevent another resurrection. (Chapters 465 and 469–471)

Appearance and personality

Kamash is mountain-sized: even Molon reaches only about the height of his heel, and his steps can be felt as earthquakes days before his arrival. After resurrection, his head and torso are joined to stronger replacement limbs assembled from unidentified body parts. The living Kamash is savage, proud, and absolutely loyal to Fury as his father. His undead self retains only clouded memories and selected violent emotions, yet enough of his old pride survives for him to reject an order to retreat from Eugene's Eclipse. Abilities and powers

As a giant, Kamash possesses enormous physical strength, natural magic resistance, and a body hard enough that ordinary forces cannot stop him. He fights most comfortably with fists, feet, and thrown earth: by compressing a handful of sand and filling it with dark power, he creates a projectile powerful enough to threaten Eugene, while a sweep of his arm carries a broad wave of darkness. His scale is also a tactical danger because even ordinary movement can devastate formations and terrain. (Chapters 53 and 469–470)

Fury's blessing makes the living Kamash vastly stronger than an ordinary giant and prevents conventional magic or weapons from ending the threat; the historical account states that only Vermouth's Holy Sword delivers the final killing blow. Amelia's undead reconstruction is stronger still, with composite limbs superior to his originals and no normal sensation of pain. It is not self-directed growth: Amelia restricts his personality and can issue absolute commands, though Kamash's pride proves strong enough to resist one order. Eugene's divine power, black flames, Empty Sword, and Eclipse repeatedly overpower his dark power, and burning the second corpse ends his latest source-grounded state. Relationships

• Demon King of Fury: Fury adopts Kamash as one of his four children, empowers him, and receives the giant race's allegiance. Kamash calls for his father at death and leads the Palmir assault to prove his loyalty. (Chapters 53 and 91)
• Amelia Merwin: Amelia rebuilds Kamash as an undead weapon, suppresses his irrelevant memories and emotions, and deploys him against the Liberation Army. He obeys her control until pride makes him reject an order to evade Eugene's attack. (Chapters 465 and 469–470)
• Eugene Lionheart: As Hamel, Eugene helps cripple Kamash so Vermouth can behead him. Reincarnated, he defeats the stronger undead version alone and destroys the body after the second execution. (Chapters 53, 465, and 469–471)
