Little Blue

Little Blue is a sentient Sylvan Riverseed, Lindon's contracted partner, and a member of his chosen family. She grows from a tiny natural spirit confined in a scripted habitat into a healer, purification specialist, and Herald combatant whose agency and loyalty are distinct from the powers she shares with Lindon.

Biography

From confined Riverseed to companion

Little Blue first lives inside a reinforced glass habitat in Heaven's Glory's Lesser Treasure Hall. The tablet identifies her as a nascent natural spirit nourished by pure madra, and her curiosity is already visible as she watches Lindon through the glass. Lindon and Yerin take the habitat during their escape, but the enclosure's transfer does not make the living spirit property; her later choices, preferences, and contract establish her as a person in her own right. (Chapters 14 and 18–19)

Lindon's pure scales nourish the Riverseed, while Eithan uses soulfire and a vastly denser scale to accelerate her maturation into a tiny blue woman. Once she leaves the case, she deliberately enters Lindon's damaged channels and cleanses Blackflame residue despite the exhaustion it causes her. She repeats that care for Orthos, Yerin, and Jai Chen, turning a gentle natural affinity into a chosen role that makes Lindon's dangerous Blackflame training sustainable and changes several companions' chances of survival. (Chapters 34, 51, 55, and 59–70)

Ghostwater growth and the cleansing contract

Little Blue enters Ghostwater as one of the group's vulnerable members, but she continues healing Orthos and supporting Lindon after the portal battle strands them in the collapsing pocket world. Water from Ghostwater's Wells restores her after exertion and makes her color deeper, her form more solid, and her power stronger. Her presence also carries emotional weight: she reassures Lindon, objects when shut away for safety, and remains beside him through the choices that produce Dross and their escape. (Chapters 83–100)

As Lindon advances, Little Blue shifts from healer under his protection to a partner able to strengthen his Path directly. Their mutual contract gives Lindon's pure madra her stronger cleansing character and helps make the Hollow Domain possible. She also shows preferences that Lindon cannot simply command away, particularly suspicion toward Ruby; her eventual tolerance of Ruby follows reassurance and shared experience rather than loss of agency. The bond therefore expands both her power and her place within the group. (Chapters 102–170)

Dreadgod campaigns and independent training

During the Sacred Valley rescue and the conflicts that follow, Little Blue supplies purification and support while trying to keep pace with companions whose battles have reached Dreadgod scale. She assists against the Titan's influence, works through the labyrinth campaigns, and accompanies Yerin into Redmoon Hall despite fear of Red Faith. Courage for her is not the absence of fear: she recognizes dangers that can overwhelm her, stays close to allies, and still chooses to help when her cleansing power can protect them. (Chapters 175–219 and 227–239)

Lindon later places Little Blue in Ghostwind Hall's accelerated training regimen and feeds her increasingly dense pure madra and soulfire. She wants enough strength to protect the family that once protected her, so she accepts the difficult growth rather than remaining only a support spirit. By the end of that training she is an Archlord-equivalent spirit capable of tolerating Lindon's power, which prepares her for a transformation that depends on both her accumulated development and resources he provides. (Chapters 246–261)

Herald combatant and ascension

Little Blue reaches Herald by manifesting a physical, human-like body from spirit, using Lindon's pure madra together with blood and life essence taken from Northstrider. The change lets her move between her familiar tiny form and adult human height, apply physical force, and fight as an independent sacred artist. It does not sever the contract: she can still draw on Lindon's core, but she directs that borrowed power through her own cleansing techniques, Soul Cloak, and Empty Palm. (Chapters 261–264)

Her new strength is immediately tested against enemies far beyond ordinary sacred artists. Little Blue joins the Weeping Dragon battle, confronts Malice, and is nearly killed rather than retreat from the group's shared objective. In the last Dreadgod war, she uses a Hollow Domain to weaken the Titan's blow and meets it physically, demonstrating how far she has moved from the spirit once hidden in a glass garden. She later ascends beside Lindon and Orthos, even helping pull Lindon through the unstable passage when his accumulated power resists the crossing. (Chapters 263–281)

Appearance and personality

Little Blue begins as a finger-sized, featureless figure resembling ocean-blue flame. Eithan's enhancement gives her fingers, long flowing hair, a feminine face, and a lower body that flows like a dress; continued nourishment makes her deeper blue, more solid, and eventually about a foot tall. Her speech sounds like bells or chimes and is not ordinarily rendered as human words, though companions understand meaning through tone, gesture, familiarity, and spiritual connection. (Chapters 14, 51, 55–70, and 89–100)

She is curious, playful, affectionate, compassionate, and eager for pure scales, but she is not uniformly fearless or compliant. She can panic around overwhelming powers, protest being confined, scold Lindon, and become possessive or suspicious when she thinks a newcomer threatens the family. Her later bravery grows from those attachments: she seeks the strength to contribute, chooses dangerous support roles, and retains a cheerful personality after gaining the adult physical form of a Herald. (Chapters 51–81, 166–168, 175–239, and 261–281)

Sacred arts and abilities

Little Blue is a natural spirit formed from balanced aura rather than a human sacred artist or a dead artist's Remnant. Her power is gentle, flexible, and strongly aligned with spiritual cleansing. Later growth, her contract with Lindon, and Herald embodiment extend that foundation into domains, techniques, and physical combat.

Spiritual cleansing and repair

Little Blue sends sapphire power through madra channels to remove corrosive residue, soothe damage, purify foreign influence, and help reconnect disrupted spiritual pathways. She cleanses Lindon and Yerin, repeatedly stabilizes Orthos's Blackflame damage, repairs Jai Chen after the Archstone has altered her spirit, and mitigates dangerous madra influx. Healing drains her color and energy, she cannot correct every physical or spiritual injury, and Eithan's already-pure madra gives her nothing harmful to remove. (Chapters 55, 60–62, and 69–71)

Contract and Hollow Domain

The mutual contract incorporates Little Blue's cleansing aspect into Lindon's pure madra, strengthening the principle behind his Hollow Domain. She can later create a smaller domain-like field herself, suppressing or weakening foreign madra around her rather than simply treating damage afterward. The contract also lets her draw from Lindon's pure core in battle, but the power source does not erase the distinction between them: Little Blue chooses how to act and can operate away from him with other companions. (Chapters 166, 197, 205, 229, 237, and 257)

Herald body and combat techniques

At Herald, Little Blue manifests physical flesh from her spirit using Lindon's madra and Northstrider's blood and life essence. She can take an adult human-like form or return to her smaller familiar size. With a Soul Cloak fueled through the contract, she gains the speed and force for direct combat; she also uses the Empty Palm and her Hollow Domain to disrupt techniques and spiritual power. Dreadgod and Monarch battles can still overwhelm or nearly kill her, so embodiment does not make her invulnerable. (Chapters 261–274)

Relationships

  • Lindon: Nurturer, contracted partner, and closest family bond. He feeds and protects her without controlling her personhood; she steadies him emotionally, cleanses his spirit, and eventually fights beside him as a Herald.
  • Orthos: Early patient and later fellow contracted companion. Little Blue repeatedly cleanses his Blackflame damage, and the two ultimately ascend with Lindon.
  • Yerin: Friend whose spirit Little Blue cleanses and whom she later accompanies into Redmoon Hall. Their reunion beyond Cradle reflects a relationship no longer mediated only through Lindon.
  • Dross: Fellow sentient spirit and member of the same chosen family. Their contrasting voices and temperaments provide comic friction while both become indispensable partners.
  • Eithan: Early benefactor whose soulfire and pure scale accelerate her development while preserving her natural Riverseed nature.
  • Jai Chen: Recipient of Little Blue's most consequential early repair, when Little Blue helps reconnect and purify channels altered by the Archstone.
  • Ruby: Initially viewed as a possible threat to the group; Little Blue gradually accepts her after Lindon's reassurance and Ruby's demonstrated autonomy.

Items

  • Scripted glass habitat: Little Blue's original enclosed garden and portable home, built with reinforced glass, a flowing river, and balanced natural features. Lindon carries the habitat while she is small, but it is an enclosure associated with her early life—not ownership of Little Blue herself—and she eventually outgrows and leaves it.
