Nine Soul Pearls
The Nine Soul Pearls are nine green, Life-aligned pearls and one of the three talismans required to form the Crown of Life. They protect and nurture their bearer's soul, first preserving Molde and later becoming part of the completed crown offered to the Overgod of Life. (Chapters 726, 733, and 762)
History
Molde's bracelet and Linley's seizure
Molde carries the pearls as a bracelet and survives repeated attacks that should have killed him. Linley recognizes that the bracelet is responsible, tears it apart, and takes the nine pearls. At that moment neither man publicly explains their Overgod identity, but Molde later spreads a mixture of truth and falsehood claiming that Linley possesses them. (Chapters 726, 728, and 730)
Concealment from the Sovereigns
Once Linley learns that the pearls are an Overgod talisman, their custody becomes dangerous. Sovereigns threaten to search or kill him for them, while Molde's false claim that Linley also has the Overgod decree makes surrendering only the pearls likely to deepen suspicion. Linley therefore entrusts their ring to Bebe, who conceals it inside a godspark weapon until the immediate scrutiny passes. (Chapters 729–731)
Assembly of the Crown of Life
While stored in Linley's interspatial ring, the nine pearls attach to the nine settings of the tattered pentametal crown. Later information identifies the three talismans and explains that their union forms the Crown of Life. After Linley acquires the red caltrop diamond, he presents the crown already studded with the pearls; the final talisman enters its central setting, and the completed crown flies to the appearing Overgod of Life. The pearls cease to exist as a separate set at that point. (Chapters 730, 733, and 762)
Abilities and properties
- The pearls provide Life-aligned protection and nurturing to the soul. Their power helps Molde survive repeated attacks and is later described as a soul-protecting counterpart to the pentametal crown's healing energy. (Chapters 726, 736, and 737)
- Their benefit scales down as the bearer grows stronger. Molde receives only limited help against Linley, and Linley estimates that for a Paragon the improvement would be roughly ten or twenty percent, with regeneration increased only twofold or threefold. (Chapter 757)
- The nine pearls fit the pentametal crown's outer settings and form one component of the Crown of Life. They cannot complete the Overgod mission alone; the pentametal crown and red caltrop diamond are also required. (Chapters 730, 733, and 762)
- They are talismans rather than Overgod artifacts. Their defensive benefit is substantial but not absolute, and it does not grant a powerful bearer an independent new cultivation level. (Chapters 726, 757, and 762)
