Mirage

Mirage is Linley's semi-translucent godspark sword. When filled with divine power it can become visually invisible, and its sharpness lets Linley channel both rapid wind-style swordplay and his heavier earth-derived attacks through the same weapon. (Chapters 638, 639, and 642–643)

History

First battles in Purgatory

Mirage first appears in Linley's hands when a green serpent attacks in Purgatory. He fills the blade with divine power until it becomes completely translucent, then cuts the creature apart. During subsequent serpent attacks, he uses Mirage's sharpness with the Elemental Laws of the Wind to produce dense fields of rapid sword blurs rather than wasting power on unnecessarily heavy blows. (Chapters 638, 639, 642, and 643)

Commander-level weapon

Linley later keeps Mirage hidden as a decisive material-attack weapon. Against the Redcliff Lord, its invisible approach combines with Dragonform and Blackstone Space to wound an opponent who cannot fully react in time. Later clashes show the sword's limits: Sovereign artifacts and exceptionally powerful bodies or attacks can deflect it, knock it back, or prevent an immediate kill. (Chapters 654, 659, 671, and 697)

Microcosm and later practice

Mirage becomes the delivery weapon for Linley's developing earth-style Microcosm attack. The sword carries the thrust and its invisibility conceals the weapon, while the surrounding restriction, fused profound mysteries, and explosive force come from Linley's technique rather than from Mirage itself. Linley continues practicing with Mirage in the void before putting it away and drawing the Life Overgod Sword to test a still stronger attack. The exchange is a change of weapon for that test, not a loss or transfer of Mirage. (Chapters 687–688 and 772)

Abilities and properties

• Mirage is a godspark sword with a semi-translucent resting appearance. Divine power can make it completely translucent and visually invisible, although sufficiently alert experts can still sense or respond to its approach through other means. (Chapters 638–639, 659, and 688)
• Its sharpness and Linley's physical strength are sufficient to pulp swarms of green serpents, allowing him to favor the speed of wind-style swordplay when additional material force would be unnecessary. (Chapters 642–643)
• The sword can channel Linley's Firmament Splitter and Microcosm, but their gravitational restriction and fused-Law power belong to Linley's cultivation. Mirage is the weapon conducting those attacks, not their independent source. (Chapters 654 and 687–688)
• Mirage is durable enough for commander-level clashes, but it does not make Linley invulnerable. Stronger attacks can knock it back into him, Sovereign artifacts can overpower it, and enemy defenses can redirect its thrust. (Chapters 671, 688, and 697)
