Biography

Power behind Fenlai's court

Patterson is King Clayde's younger brother, a duke of the Boleyn clan, and Fenlai's Minister of Finance. He uses that access to conduct secret dealings with the Debs clan and meets Bernard away from public scrutiny, treating royal office as protection for arrangements that would create serious trouble if Clayde discovered them. (Chapters 114–133)

Linley learns that Patterson was responsible for Baruch's death and hunts him for a confession. Patterson attempts to survive the confrontation through explanation and force, but Linley kills him; later he openly tells Clayde that the murder was revenge for his father, turning Patterson's hidden crime into the cause of Fenlai's final rupture with Linley. (Chapters 134–140)
