Life in the Black Dragon Tribe

Krate welcomes Linley's newly arrived family as a neighbor, explains the distance to Royalwing City, and gives them an approachable first contact in the Infernal Realm. His delicate appearance belies a Demigod's experience and a clear understanding that the tribe's apparent shelter also limits its residents' options. (Chapters 453–455)

When raiders attack, Krate abandons his friendly calm and demands that Linley help defend the tribe, believing extermination will follow defeat. His older brother is killed in the fighting; Krate recognizes the killer among the surrendered enemy soldiers but suppresses immediate revenge under Stirton's intimidating rule. (Chapters 456–458)
