Biography

Courtship and clan crisis

Kalan courts Alice after her separation from Linley and arranges their engagement and wedding through the Debs clan. When Linley's sculpture makes the broken relationship public, Kalan fears the threat to his marriage and asks why the clan should not kill Linley, allowing jealousy and family calculation to shape his response. The Debs clan's smuggling prosecution then strips Kalan of control over his future.
