Hayward

Hayward is a Grand Magus Saint from Desri's secluded settlement. He helps Linley Baruch understand how a magus can fight a faster opponent, then joins the Necropolis of the Gods expedition in search of divine advancement. (Chapters 285–291, 312, 334, 341–345)

Biography

The Anarchic Lands And The Baruch Realm

Hayward meets Linley as one of the Saints living around Desri and agrees to demonstrate a magus's answer to superior speed. Their sparring and discussion help Linley refine his understanding of wind techniques and tactical distance. When Beirut opens the Necropolis, Hayward joins the weaker second group despite the risk. On the sixth floor, the Flame Tyrant overwhelms the Saints' formation and kills him, ending the cultivation quest that drew him away from the settlement. (Chapters 285–291, 312, 334, 341–345)

Appearance and personality

The cited chapters give Hayward no distinctive physical portrait. He is cooperative and analytical during training, willing to explain the weaknesses of a magus in close combat, and later accepts mortal danger for the possibility of deityhood. (Chapters 285–291, 341–345)

Abilities and cultivation

Hayward is a wind Grand Magus Saint whose combat teaching emphasizes how a slower spellcaster can manage distance and timing. His level makes him one of Yulan's elite mortals but cannot protect him from the Flame Tyrant inside the Necropolis. (Chapters 285–291, 341–345)
