Biography

The Fiend trial

Crompton mocks Linley for entering a Fiend trial and reacts angrily when Yuna rebukes him, establishing a confidence far larger than his demonstrated ability. During the mission he joins two other Highgod Fiends against a black-robed guard, barely wins, and then panics when additional enemies appear instead of regrouping around a defensible plan. (Chapters 463–474)

His wild flight through the tunnels leaves him isolated and unable to cope with the trial's changing threats. The chapters explicitly judge him the weak member of his three-Fiend team, and his contempt for a supposed novice ends in his own death during the same examination. (Chapters 469–474)

Crompton is a bald warrior dressed in black armor. (Chapter 463)

Personality

He is contemptuous, thin-skinned, boastful, and ultimately fearful when the danger he dismissed becomes immediate. (Chapters 463–474)

Crompton is a Highgod-level Fiend, but his combat performance is weak by that standard and depends heavily on two teammates. (Chapters 470–474)
