Search for the Overgod talismans

The Chief Sovereign of Light personally recruits Clementine for a task that Sovereigns cannot directly complete in a material plane. Clementine accepts leadership of a large Highgod contingent, travels in search of the Overgod talismans, and evaluates both local clues and rival forces rather than assuming his sponsor's authority will make the mission uncontested. As Linley becomes the decisive competitor, Clementine withdraws with much of the visible force while Derry secretly retains command of the observers who track Linley's teleportation route. This division shows Clementine acting as the expedition's public leader while the Sovereign preserves a separate channel of control beyond him. (Chapters 755–759)
