Dragon Scale Greaves

Dragon Scale Greaves is the shared name used for two successive pairs of combat greaves owned by In-gong: an A-rank red-dragon pair from the Demon King’s Palace smithy and a later black-dragon replacement made by Amita.

History

Red-dragon pair

In-gong commissions light, flexible greaves from the Demon King’s Palace smithy so they will protect his shins without interfering with footwork or kicking techniques. The smithy uses dragon leather and scales secretly supplied in his name by Sword Duke Ishgard. In-gong collects the completed pair before departing for Thunderdoom Fortress. (Chapters 62–63)

The system identifies this first pair as A-rank greaves made from red-dragon leather and scales. In-gong equips them as his standard leg armour and uses fire, including his own Fire Arrow, to charge their offensive effect. (Chapters 64, 87) Their construction also includes light, durable metal components rather than dragon material alone. (Chapter 95)

After In-gong allies with the last flame, the Incarnation of Fire manifests as sacred green flames around this pair. The greaves remain a visible conduit for those flames during his later spar with Vandal. The blessing belongs to In-gong’s alliance with the last flame; the source does not say that the original smithy built divine power into the armour. (Chapters 96, 134)

Black-dragon replacement

Amita later presents In-gong with a new pair made from black-dragon scales. Amita explicitly compares them with the greaves In-gong is already using and says the new version is several times better, fits his dragon aura and magic power, and channels the last flame’s sacred fire more effectively. In-gong accepts and inventories the new pair. (Chapter 145)

The narrative subsequently calls these “Amita’s newly created Dragon Scale Greaves” while divine sparks rise from them in battle, confirming that the second pair has replaced the first in active use. (Chapter 160) Sacred green fire is still shown around In-gong in the final battle, but the text does not separately inventory the greaves there. (Chapter 227)

Abilities and properties

Original red-dragon greaves

• A-rank enhancement: They grant +5 strength, +10 agility, and a five-percent increase to foot damage. (Chapter 64)
• Fire resistance and absorption: Fire Resistance and Fire Absorption begin at level three. Absorbed fire increases the power of In-gong’s kicks. (Chapter 64)
• Fire Strengthening: Each level adds another five percent to foot damage, up to five levels. Without additional absorbed fire, the accumulated level lasts five minutes before resetting to zero. In-gong notes that he can recharge the effect with his own Fire Arrow, which requires active effort rather than providing permanent maximum output. (Chapter 64)
• Construction: They are blackish red rather than bright red and combine red-dragon leather and scales with light, durable metals. Their form is designed to preserve ankle and leg mobility. (Chapters 62, 64, 95)

Amita’s black-dragon greaves

• Greater performance: Amita describes the second pair as several times better than the first, but the corpus supplies no replacement rank or numerical statistics. (Chapter 145)
• Affinity: They fit In-gong’s dragon aura and magic power and draw out the sacred flame more effectively. Divine sparks are demonstrated on them in battle. (Chapters 145, 160)
• Unspecified carryover: The source does not state whether every named property of the red-dragon pair—including Fire Absorption and its five-minute strengthening cycle—also exists on the black-dragon pair. Those statistics therefore apply only to the first pair unless stated otherwise. (Chapters 64, 145)

Ownership and custody
