Lich's Scepter

Lich's Scepter is Lich's persistent necromantic focus during the Chosen Games. Its description varies with perspective and later transformation—from a black, skull-tipped weapon to a silver, bone-crafted or bone-and-steel scepter—but it consistently channels Lich's green, violet, and deathly magic. He also handles it as a close-combat weapon. In Undead Monarch form it grows longer and gains a grinning skull, and Alex finally disarms Lich with the Scythe of Hatred before shattering his soul. History

Chosen Games debut

Lich first enters the preliminary arena carrying a black scepter topped by a skull-shaped crystal. He raises it to spread dark-purple energy across the battlefield and summons a Grim Reaper, then directs the summon by pointing the weapon. When Asmon reaches him, Lich uses the scepter to parry the physical strike and spins away, showing that it is both casting focus and practiced melee implement. (Chapters 472–473)

Main-round summoning focus

In the main round, the scepter is described as silver and bone-crafted. Tapping or slamming it into the ground sends black and sickly green energy through the terrain and precedes Lich's large undead summons. During the final battle, dark runes circle it while he chants for the Undead Lord and Grim Reaper, and he repeatedly uses it to raise massed skeletons or command his constructs. Undead Monarch transformation

When Lich enters Undead Monarch form, the scepter changes with him: it becomes longer, a dark grinning skull crowns its tip, and deep violet energy replaces or intensifies its prior aura. He later cleaves Alex's Undead Lord in half with a swing, points the transformed weapon while issuing orders, and uses it throughout the determination-domain confrontation. The exact material description shifts again to “obsidian,” but no separate acquisition establishes a replacement. (Chapters 498–501)

Empowerment, disarmament, and fate

Lich plants the scepter and channels the essence of his fallen undead into it, causing bone to twist around the weapon and its dark aura to intensify. He uses the empowered focus to summon massive skeletal hands against Alex. Alex's next Scythe of Hatred strike knocks it from Lich's grip and sends it flying; Lich's soul is shattered moments later. The text does not state who recovers the disarmed scepter or whether it survives the domain. (Chapter 502)

Abilities and properties

• The scepter channels necromantic energy and acts as a focus for summoning the Grim Reaper, Undead Lords, skeleton armies, undead beasts, reapers, and giant skeletal hands. Gestures include raising, pointing, tapping, slamming, spinning, and planting it, but the corpus does not disclose a mana cost, cooldown, rank, or standalone item description.
