Nocteron

Nocteron, the God of Death, is the final divine antagonist of the Chosen Games. Bonded to Lich and supported by Hades, he stores millions of lives, permanently kills Kaelios, and appears certain to win until Alex's determination creates a domain where his single soul can be destroyed. Biography

The Death pair eliminates the Primordial pair

Nocteron first appears beside Lich when they confront Elyssara and Seren. Although the Primordial pair can inspect only three of his skills, his physical attributes let him intercept both opponents, protect his summoning partner, and shatter Seren's defensive barrier by touch. He then reveals Life Drain: millions of stolen lives are stored as replacements, allowing his split body and accumulated wounds to regenerate immediately after otherwise lethal attacks. (Chapters 482–483)

The pair's bond extends that survival to Lich, whose severed head reconnects after the Primordial attack. Nocteron exploits their opponents' mistaken belief that the Chosen One has fallen, seizes Elyssara from behind, and activates Death, a skill that kills without revival. Seren is then annihilated because her life is bound to the dead goddess. Nocteron departs calmly with Lich, having eliminated one of the strongest remaining pairs while preserving their own hidden advantages. (Chapter 484)

Killing Destiny and invoking Hades

In the final battle, Nocteron explains that his soul is split across the millions of lives he has taken, making ordinary killing futile. Life Drain restores both him and Lich after Alex's undead barrage, while Necrotic Touch permanently kills opposing skills for the duration of the fight. He advances through Alex's attacks, erases Kaelios's Threads of Fate and summoned weapons, then uses Death directly on the God of Destiny, preventing revival and triggering the annihilation of Kaelios's bonded Chosen One. Alex survives through Determination and reenters the fight in Hatred's Fury, forcing Nocteron out of his detached confidence. The death god calls on Hades and transforms into Underworld Ruler Form, gaining necrotic armor and the Underworld god's chained projection behind him. Nocteron still believes his stored lives make the result inevitable, while Hades supplies shackles, underworld flames, a hostile domain, and judgment during the remaining minutes. (Chapters 497–500)

Death inside the Domain of Determination

Alex's soul opens the Domain of Determination before Hades's battlefield can fully consume him. Its final rule makes soul projections the combatants' health and forbids resurrection, reducing Nocteron's millions of lives to one vulnerable black heart burning with green fire. Nocteron initially tries to preserve confidence and commands Lich to attack, but the loss of familiar death rules turns assurance into alarm as Alex cracks Lich's projection and permanently kills the Chosen One. (Chapters 501–502)

Nocteron claims that his combat strength remains even after the bond breaks and continues the final duel with Hades's assistance. Both he and Alex accumulate glowing fractures across their exposed souls as the timer falls. Nocteron's last question about whether the struggle was worthwhile reveals fear beneath his resolve. Alex blocks his final strike, cuts Hades down, and shatters Nocteron's projection, ending the God of Death without another stored life or resurrection. (Chapters 502–503)

Appearance and personality

Nocteron initially has jet-black hair, crimson eyes, and a tall humanoid form accompanied by an oppressive aura of decay and finality. In Underworld Ruler Form, solid green fire becomes armor marked with pulsing runes, a tight helmet forms a jagged bestial jaw around his skull, and his steps trail necrotic flame. Hades's enormous translucent figure floats behind him in cracked black shackles. (Chapters 482–483, 492–493, 498–500)

He is calm, malicious, and unnervingly matter-of-fact while protected by stored lives. Nocteron describes opponents' denial with amusement, discards Elyssara's body after killing her, and treats inevitable death as proof of his authority rather than a possibility to test. Alex's survival and the Domain of Determination progressively strip away that composure, producing disbelief, anger, panic, and finally a desperate but genuine resolve to win with his one remaining soul. Skills and system abilities

Nocteron's three named core skills are Death, Life Drain, and Necrotic Touch. Death kills a target without revival and has a stated one-hour cooldown. Life Drain steals and stores lives, reconstructing Nocteron after bodily destruction and extending regeneration to Lich through their bond. Necrotic Touch kills an opponent's active skill for the battle merely by touching it, allowing him to erase barriers, summons, elemental attacks, and Kaelios's destiny techniques. Underworld Ruler Form manifests after Nocteron invokes Hades. Its green soul-fire armor accompanies Hades's shackles, weapon support, domain opening, and direct attacks, while Nocteron himself retains extreme speed, strength, and close-combat skill. These powers do not grant immunity to the Domain of Determination's rules: when his soul projection replaces stored lives as the sole health measure, repeated weapon strikes can kill him permanently. Relationships

• Lich: Lich is Nocteron's Chosen One and closest combat partner. Their bond shares Life Drain and strength, while Lich's permanent death formally costs Nocteron half his power. (Chapters 482–484, 491–503)
• Hades: Nocteron invokes the God of the Underworld to enter his final form. Hades manifests behind him, supplies shackles and a weapon, and fights beside him until Alex cuts him down. (Chapters 498–503)
• Kaelios: Nocteron counters Kaelios's destiny skills and kills him with Death, denying the God of Destiny's remaining revival and nearly annihilating Alex through their bond. (Chapters 491–497)
• Alex Rogue: Alex is Nocteron's final opponent. His refusal to remain annihilated creates the conditions that expose Nocteron's one soul and allow the God of Death to die permanently. (Chapters 491–503)
