Astariel

Astariel is a taciturn Fallen Angel whose overwhelming void-blade techniques make him one of the strongest candidates in Xyrran's Dragon Bloodline Trial. He briefly cooperates with Alex Rogue, survives every calamity, and leaves Dragon City with a new Dragon Bloodline and six wings in total. (Chapters 265–286)

Biography

Selection and the Token Holder trial

Alex meets Astariel during the preliminary selection, where the Fallen Angel calmly permits the human to land harmless blows for Destiny Points and identifies himself without deception. The examiners accept him without needing a detailed test because he has already erased an entire hallway of competitors. Once chosen as an initial token holder, Astariel refuses to run from the pursuing crowd and eliminates fifty attackers with a single backward slash of his Dark Blade. (Chapters 265–269)

During Xyrran's first direct Calamity attack, Astariel recognizes that the dragon behind Alex is the immediate threat. He combines Dark Blade and White Blade into the Forbidden Merged Void Blades and erases Xyrran's manifested existence, unintentionally saving Alex. Xyrran revives and turns his fury toward Astariel, but the event timer ends before their conflict continues. Astariel remains composed, advises Alex to secure another token, and preserves his own position through later calamities. (Chapters 272–276)

Final calamity and Dragon Bloodline

The fifth calamity requires every survivor to kill another participant. Astariel initially moves against Alex, recognizes him, and redirects his strike toward other candidates, satisfying the condition while leaving their temporary cooperation intact. When the timer reaches zero, Xyrran reveals a final battle against ten Primordial Dragon clones. Astariel again invokes Merged Void Blades and erases five clones—Inferno, Frost, Earth, Abyss, and Storm—with one annihilating sweep before leaving the rest to the other survivors. The Primordial Dragons accept Astariel at judgment without recapping his already decisive performance. At the Dragon Bloodline Altar, he places his token in the fountain, gains three new skills and increased statistics, and manifests a new crimson pair of wings. Those wings join his two original white angel wings and two black fallen wings, bringing the total to six. Satisfied with the result, he immediately flies away to return to the Fallen Angels rather than remain involved in Dragon City. (Chapters 283–286)

Appearance and personality

Astariel initially has four wings: two white wings reflecting his angelic origin and two black wings marking his fall. He wears armor, carries an aura strong enough to block Alex's attempts to inspect him, and moves with a predator's measured attention. After receiving the Dragon Bloodline, a third pair of deep-crimson wings emerges, giving him six wings while leaving his other features visibly unchanged. (Chapters 265–266, 268–269, 285–286)

He is calm, taciturn, confident, and difficult to provoke. Astariel speaks briefly, does not object to Alex's unusual request for harmless strikes, and walks through a trial while others sprint because he trusts his own strength. That reserve is not passivity: when a threat warrants action, he kills without hesitation. He also shows practical restraint by redirecting attacks and briefly cooperating when unnecessary conflict would endanger both participants. (Chapters 265–280, 285–286)

Skills and system abilities

Astariel forms a Dark Blade capable of erasing large groups with a single slash and a corresponding White Blade. By merging the two, he invokes Merged Void Blades, a Forbidden Skill whose strike erases not merely a body but the target's existence. The technique destroys Xyrran's manifestation and later five primordial-dragon clones, although Xyrran's trial-linked revival demonstrates that the erasure is not invariably permanent under exceptional system conditions. His strength is also defensive and aerial. Astariel survives the calamities with little visible strain, creates a black-and-white barrier against the Xyrran clone's Aura Pressure, and retains enough confidence to reveal his new bloodline state openly.
