Heartseeker

Heartseeker is a dungeon-made replica of the favored spear of the King of Caelora, whose enchantment gives it exceptional cutting power.

History

The replica in the dungeon

Eryk encounters the spear in a dungeon. Raelia recognizes it as a replica made by the dungeon, carrying echoes of an original weapon once favored by the King of Caelora. She explains that the original’s enchantments let dark mithril cut through extremely tough materials when sufficient force is applied. Eryk takes up the replica and uses it in later dungeon fights. Against the dungeon’s creatures

Eryk uses Heartseeker against panthers, a shadow hunter, and manticores. Its length and weight make it difficult for him to use alongside a shield, but its edge wounds a manticore even when his throw only clips it. In another fight, he drives it beneath a manticore’s jaw and into its brain. (Chapters 335–336, 339, 343)

Abilities and properties

• The replica is made of dark mithril and carries an echo of the original Heartseeker’s enchantments. (Chapter 313)
• Its cutting effect is especially potent against tough targets; the force behind a strike matters. (Chapter 313)
• The spear is heavy and designed for two-handed use, limiting Eryk’s ability to wield it with a shield. (Chapter 339)
