Xavier

Xavier is a skilled swordsman who becomes one of Eryk’s principal practice partners. His presence in both real sparring and dreamscape training gives Eryk a demanding benchmark for close combat. (Chapters 99–107, 128–139, 166–211, 256, 275)

Biography

A demanding sword master

Xavier introduces himself while joining the company’s leadership structure as a lieutenant. He has a reputation as a skilled swordsman, and Eryk later uses him as a training partner in the dreamscape, where Xavier usually wins. The repeated defeats are useful: Eryk studies how Xavier moves and incorporates what he sees into his practice. (Chapters 99–101, 106–107)

Xavier remains part of the company’s daily life, including card games and sparring sessions. During the Shimmering Labyrinth period, he eagerly draws his blade when Eryk suggests practicing with the group. He trains Eryk alongside Konstantin and Maveith, giving him direct experience against different sizes and styles of opponents. (Chapters 107, 128, 139, 166, 170)

Training through the dungeon campaign

As Eryk’s combat needs grow, Xavier continues to appear in practice sessions, including sword-and-shield drills and exercises against multiple opponents. Eryk uses lessons from Xavier and Konstantin to improve his movement and defensive choices, then applies them in later fights. Xavier’s role is chiefly instructional, but his experience is a continuing part of Eryk’s preparation. (Chapters 187–193, 205, 211, 256, 275)

Appearance and personality

Xavier is a confident, skilled swordsman who is eager to spar and comfortable challenging Eryk. His identity as a sword master is repeatedly used as shorthand for the quality of his technique. (Chapters 123, 139, 166, 187)

Magic and abilities

Xavier’s established specialty is swordsmanship. He teaches through sparring and can challenge Eryk even after Eryk has developed multiple shields and unusual spatial abilities. No personal magic or numeric score progression is documented. (Chapters 139, 166, 187, 205)
