Biography

The Hounds enter the company’s orbit

Cornelius first appears when he meets Konstantin and Eryk during the company’s service. He leads Hounds who screen and track the group, then explains the organization’s role in investigating threats across the Empire. He later uses his authority to place Eryk near people whose safety matters to the Imperial leadership. (Chapters 58–61, 91)

Eryk’s sentinel assignment

After Eryk returns from Caelora, Cornelius brings him into the Hounds’ work and explains that his experience and abilities have attracted requests from powerful people. He assigns Eryk to serve as a sentinel for Zyna and sets expectations around discretion and readiness. Cornelius’s instructions give Eryk a new position inside the Empire’s security apparatus, though Eryk remains wary of the political demands attached to it. (Chapters 203–214)

Cornelius then takes responsibility for the new Hound trainees. He organizes their induction, assigns instructors, and reviews their progress. He sends Jansen to lead training while he manages the broader program, making sure the trainees learn field craft before they are entrusted with dangerous work. (Chapters 213–225)
