Soul Convergence Pill

The Soul Convergence Pill is an original medicine invented by Bai Xiaochun to gather vengeful souls through opposing forces of gravity and repulsion. Crushing or detonating a pill pulls nearby soul bodies toward its activation point; stronger versions can shred souls or compress them into collectible soul spheres. Its mass production changes warfare at the Great Wall and later gives Bai a reliable method for harvesting or clearing souls far beyond the Heavenspan Realm. History

Invention for the cyan trial

Bai designs the pill after vengeful souls prevent him from passing the cyan Starry Sky Dao Polarity trial. Rather than relying on evil-warding talismans, he tries to use his research into gravity and repulsion to make all nearby souls converge at one location. Two months of unstable experiments tear his clothing, throw him into walls, and repeatedly alarm imposter Nightcrypt before one version finally draws the soul directly to Bai's palm. He names the successful medicine the Soul Convergence Pill and produces a large reserve for another challenge. (Chapter 431)

The first trial use confirms its effectiveness against massed souls. Bai can throw individual pills or dozens at once, disrupting the soul emperor and the surrounding horde. The activation consumes each pill, so continued use depends on stockpiling ingredients and finished batches. At this stage the item is a specialized answer to soul bodies rather than a general weapon against living cultivators. (Chapter 435)

Great Wall refinement and mass production

At the Great Wall, Bai uses Soul Convergence Pills to break an attacking soul tide and attract the attention of General Bai Lin. Bai Lin commissions stronger versions and large-scale production for the five legions. Bai rewrites the formula around cloudysoul leaf, earthspirit tuber, atmosphere flower, and a tightly sealed furnace. Failed or deliberately unstable batches turn the medicine's soul-affecting force into wide-area explosions, while successful refinement produces a golden pill that pulls souls from a broad area before turning red. Bai then produces more than ten thousand pills per day and issues one hundred to each soldier in his own battalion. The five legions deploy them by the thousand, clearing holes in soul tides and injuring nearby Wildlanders. Their battlefield effect helps reverse pressure on the Great Wall and contributes to Bai's promotion. The pills are less useful when the enemy stops fielding vengeful souls, and the Wildlands responds by changing tactics rather than demonstrating a direct antidote. (Chapters 489–503 and 531–536)

Soul harvesting in the Wildlands

Bai discovers that controlled activation can collect rather than merely destroy. When he crushes pills among vengeful souls, their bodies converge into soul spheres that he stores for battle credit or flame-conjuring. He and his troops consume thousands of pills to collect tens of millions of souls, and a huge ghost hand can be slowed by detonating several thousand at once. The technique leaves recognizable evidence, forcing Bai to erase traces when operating under an assumed identity in the Wildlands. (Chapters 511–524 and 633–634)

The pill's effectiveness scales with its target. Ordinary souls and large hordes are drawn in readily, while an archaean devilish specter can control an army strongly enough to reduce the pills' effectiveness without making them useless. Production beyond the Heavenspan Realm

Bai carries a large reserve into the Eternal Immortal Domains and the void. On the Sovereign Fan, the Dark Concocters manufacture additional supplies for him, allowing him to harvest hundreds of millions of souls from drifting lamps and clear persistent trial worlds. He also uses the pills against paper people sustained by souls, the Immortal Imperatrix's surrounding spirits, and Mortal Renegade's devilish specters. The last documented use is among many medicines thrown during the sovereign battle; the corpus does not state how many remain afterward, but the formula and production knowledge survive.
