Golden Crow Sword

The Golden Crow Sword is a threefold spirit-enhanced flying sword bequeathed to Bai Xiaochun through Spirit Stream Sect leader Zheng Yuandong. A golden crow sealed within supplies blazing fire, an illusory combat manifestation, and powered flight. The sword grows stronger when Bai reaches Foundation Establishment, but it drains substantial spiritual power at lower cultivation and eventually disappears from the narrative without a stated destruction or transfer. History

Bequest through the Spirit Stream Sect

Zheng Yuandong presents Bai with the Golden Crow Sword and the Divine Crane Shield as protective treasures from their shared lineage. He explains that his own master performed threefold spirit enhancements on both items and had earlier given them to him; Zheng now represents that master in bequeathing them to Bai. The sword's maker, date of creation, and the origin of the sealed golden crow are not identified. (Chapter 70)

Zheng describes the weapon as usable through early Foundation Establishment and warns that destroying it would release extraordinary power. Bai accepts it and immediately begins familiarizing himself with its operation. He also paints its surface so that future spirit-enhanced items will appear to reflect an eccentric decorative habit rather than reveal his enhancement secrets. (Chapters 70–71)

Qi Condensation flight and combat

At Qi Condensation, the sword lets Bai summon the golden crow and travel as a streak of golden light. It serves as an escape tool, transport between sect locations, and a way to maneuver above dangerous terrain. The initial cost is steep: one activation nearly empties Bai's spiritual reserves and causes him to fall, although he later judges that his improved cultivation permits several consecutive uses. Its fiery aura can also attract lightning rather than protect him from it. (Chapters 71 and 75–77)

Bai uses the sword as a direct projectile against Shangguan Tianyou and Ghostfang and to cut terrain or attack beasts. Its golden crow and flames are powerful against peers but not absolute defenses: Ghostfang's ten ghosts overcome its protection, and strange clouds absorb the sword temporarily during their match. Later, Bai surrounds himself with a nine-meter inferno generated through the weapon. (Chapters 95–102 and 130)

Foundation Establishment strengthening and last enhancement

After Bai reaches Foundation Establishment, the illusory crow's flames become far more powerful. The sword's underlying quality and existing threefold enhancement let it deflect a blood sword during the Heaven-Dao Foundation Establishment conflict, and Bai continues using it for rapid flight. These passages show that Zheng's statement about use through early Foundation Establishment describes its intended range, not an automatic destruction or failure at the moment Bai advances. (Chapters 165–166 and 183)

In Chapter 266, Bai spirit-enhances many of his magical items. The Golden Crow Sword does not visibly change much, but its light becomes more dazzling. This is its last direct appearance. No passage says it is consumed, destroyed, lost, or transferred afterward, so its final documented condition is intact in Bai's possession while its ultimate fate remains unknown. (Chapter 266)

Abilities and properties

• Sealed golden crow: The sword contains a golden crow that manifests as an illusory bird at the summoner's cultivation level. Its nature as a literal soul, spirit, or constructed manifestation is not further explained. (Chapter 70)

• Blazing fire: Activation radiates intense heat and can produce sword strikes, a fiery crow, or an inferno around Bai. The flames strengthen markedly after he reaches Foundation Establishment. (Chapters 70–71, 95–102, 130, and 165)

• Powered flight: Bai can ride or accompany the manifested crow as a golden streak, using it for travel and escape. At lower cultivation this consumes most of his spiritual power, while later reserves allow repeated activation. (Chapters 71 and 75–77)

• Spirit-enhanced quality: The sword arrives with threefold enhancements and later withstands a powerful blood-sword collision. A further enhancement in Chapter 266 makes its radiance more dazzling, but no new ability is specified. (Chapters 70, 166, and 266)

• Destruction release and limits: Zheng states that destroying the sword would unleash incredible power, but this contingency never occurs and its exact scale is untested. In ordinary use the weapon can be overwhelmed, temporarily trapped, or turned into a lightning attractor, and its power remains dependent on the wielder. (Chapters 70, 76, and 97)
