Eternal Parasol

The Eternal Parasol is an unfinished ancient weapon that Bai Xiaochun finds inside the body of the great toad Blueland. Closed, it can pierce a target and drain life force; opened, it serves as a powerful shield whose evolving ghost face contributes to its defense. Repeated enhancements with the Turtle-Wok greatly strengthen both functions, making the parasol central to Bai's cultivation of the Undying Codex as well as his survival in the Wildlands. History

An unfinished treasure inside Blueland

Little Turtle directs Bai to a hidden chamber inside Blueland, where a jade slip and black parasol rest on a stone dais. The message identifies the item as the Eternal Parasol, says it would have become a heaven-tier spirit weapon if completed, and teaches a technique for using it to absorb the toad's life force. Little Turtle concludes that an ancient devil-Dao cultivator had turned Blueland into a mobile immortal's cave but disappeared before finishing the work. The creator's name and exact fate are never supplied. (Chapter 320)

When Blueland tries to crush the chamber, Bai stabs the parasol into its flesh and recites the recorded enchantment. The parasol activates thousands of surviving restrictions throughout the toad as gravitational nodes, draws life force into itself, and passes the resulting qi and blood to Bai. That influx advances his Undying Live Forever Technique from Heavenly Demon Body to Asura Body and nearly completes his Foundation Establishment cultivation. Bai stops the extraction by pulling the parasol free, demonstrating that the process can be interrupted rather than inevitably killing its target. (Chapters 321–322)

Enhancement and life-force cultivation

Bai later performs eightfold and ninefold spirit enhancements on the parasol. The eighth allows it to begin extracting life force at a distance, an effect new to him, while the ninth strengthens it without causing the usual visible disturbance in heaven and earth. It absorbs multicolored flame and blocks volleys of enhanced soul arrows in the labyrinth. Against Mistress Red-Dust's overwhelming attack, however, fissures spread across the canopy, leaving it damaged even though it still saves Bai from immediate death. (Chapters 536–563)

Further spirit enhancements change its appearance and power. At fourteenfold enhancement, the face on the canopy appears to laugh and cry simultaneously, with another face-like mark on its forehead. Bai increasingly uses the closed parasol as a stabbing weapon that withers cultivators and transfers their life force into his body. This supply advances his Undying Bones through successive strata, but he often deliberately stops before killing captives, showing that the amount taken depends at least partly on how long he maintains contact. The parasol sustains severe damage while blocking a powerful finger attack in the Necromancer Kettle: its canopy tears apart and the ghost face rips free to bite the incoming finger. Bai later obtains a piece of black animal skin that excites the damaged treasure and lets it refine and repair itself inside his bag of holding. When it reappears, the parasol is fully restored. The source does not identify the animal that supplied the skin or explain why that material repairs the weapon. (Chapters 754, 766, and 779)

Later extractions and final documented use

Bai uses the repaired parasol to draw an enormous amount of life force from a captive ghost face, advancing the Undying Blood portion of his cultivation while weakening the target's divine soul. He later pierces the egg sac of a growing sovereign clone in Murknine County and absorbs life force more powerful than any he has encountered before. The theft both strengthens Bai and leaves the clone below the level it might otherwise have reached when the Saint-Emperor and Vile-Emperor confront it. (Chapters 989–991 and 1138–1152)

The last direct use occurs as the clone breaks out of its egg sac. Bai withdraws while the Eternal Parasol shakes under the force inside, then later credits the stab with injuring the creature and discouraging immediate pursuit. Chapter 1152 recalls the amount of life force stolen but does not show a new use or transfer. No later passage states that the parasol is destroyed, lost, or given away, so its final documented custody remains with Bai even though it stops appearing after this conflict. Abilities and properties

• Life-force extraction: When the closed parasol pierces living flesh, it creates a gravitational pull that draws life force through the weapon into Bai. The first use relies on a network of old restrictions inside Blueland; later enhancements let the parasol extract directly from cultivators, spirits, and a sovereign clone. Physical contact is the usual demonstrated method, although the eightfold version can exert some pull at range. (Chapters 321–322, 540, 649–754, 989–991, and 1138–1140)

• Undying Codex support: The transferred life force supplies the qi and blood needed for Bai's fleshly-body cultivation, contributing to major progress in the Asura Body, Undying Bones, and Undying Blood. The parasol does not itself grant those cultivation stages; it supplies energy that Bai's technique processes. (Chapters 321–322, 649–706, 749–754, 844, and 989–991)

• Shield form: Opened, the canopy blocks soul arrows, magical techniques, evil ghosts, and attacks from stronger opponents. Its protection has finite tolerance: overwhelming strikes can injure Bai through the shield, crack or tear the canopy, or leave it needing repair. Large numbers of simultaneous attackers can also exceed what it can cover. (Chapters 334, 541–560, 649–663, 691, 749–754)

• Ghost-face manifestations: Spirit enhancement develops a bizarre face on the canopy, later adding a second face-like mark. The face can react as though in pain and, when the canopy is destroyed, detach to bite an incoming attack. The source does not identify it as a separate sentient resident or explain whether its apparent emotions represent true consciousness. (Chapters 540, 559–560, 637, 754, and 1139)

• Spirit-enhancement progression and repair: Eightfold, ninefold, and fourteenfold enhancements visibly expand the parasol's reach, durability, and appearance. A particular unidentified black hide later repairs damage through an automatic refining process. The original claim that a completed version would be heaven-tier is historical description; the corpus never explicitly states that Bai's enhanced parasol has formally reached that classification.
