Biography

The Assault on the Zhou Clan

Zhou Wudao has few dealings with other aristocrats and is neither among the strongest nor weakest heavenly marquises, circumstances that make his clan an unobtrusive refuge for Miao Lin'er's grandfather. His household is also one of thirteen clans that aided the Miao Clan, and a bastard son secretly tells Bai Xiaochun that Bai Hao is being held there. When Bai attacks, Zhou assumes Bai's attachment to his “soul slave” will prevent him from killing the heir apparent and create room for negotiation. That calculation fails: Bai kills the heir, smashes Zhou's shadow clone and heavenly marquis pagoda, and forces the marquis to flee. External aid does not reverse the fight. Bai's corpse troopers overwhelm Zhou and the Miao patriarch, destroying both body and soul. Zhou's death then becomes the legal and political basis for other marquises to demand that the inspections commissioner be executed. (Chapters 796–809)

Appearance and personality

Zhou Wudao is described as a quiet man who is not well spoken; no age, clothing, build, or facial details are supplied. He is calculating enough to hide an ally and judge Bai's emotional leverage, but he badly underestimates the depth of Bai's anger. Once his pagoda falls, confidence becomes horror and immediate flight. (Chapters 796–798)

Abilities and cultivation

Zhou projects a shadowy magical clone capable of summoning hordes of illusory pythons and combining them into a roughly 300-meter defensive formation. From within his heavenly marquis pagoda he draws on its defenses and exercises complete control over it, but Bai's Undying Emperor's Fist breaks both clone and structure, visibly aging and injuring him. The source does not name Zhou's cultivation realm, explain the clone's range, or show a successful counter to Bai's corpse troopers. (Chapters 797–800)
