Zhao Dongshan

Biography

From the Necromancer Kettle to the Zhao Clan

Zhao Dongshan enters the Necromancer Kettle among the Wildlands' leading chosen and immediately joins the hostility toward the disguised Bai Xiaochun. He attacks with his wolf tooth club, later tries to flee when isolated, and is captured despite answering pursuit with a devastating fist. That humiliation does not end his opposition: he joins another mass attack in Arch-Emperor City. Bai Xiaochun's strength finally breaks his nerve, however, and Zhao refuses to enter Zhou Hong's formation, retreats from the confrontation, and thereafter fears provoking him. Back in his clan, Zhao occupies the place of honor as its eldest son. His strongest personal pressure emerges when universal redistribution would divide assets he regards as his rightful inheritance among his siblings. He resists, is swiftly sealed and beaten, and is left facing relatives newly emboldened to claim equal shares. (Chapters 688–694, 747–752, and 778–791)

Appearance and personality

Zhao Dongshan is particularly burly, compared to a small mountain and described as though savage-giant blood might run in his veins. He carries an enormous wolf tooth club. He is aggressive when backed by peers, proud of his place in the Zhao Clan, and protective of his expected inheritance, but his later hesitation and flight show that self-preservation overcomes pride when an opponent proves overwhelmingly dangerous. Abilities and cultivation

Zhao is renowned primarily for fleshly-body power: observers say that only Xu Shan among their group surpasses him in that respect. He can move explosively, swing his oversized club as a killing weapon, slaughter vengeful souls, and unleash a fist strike powerful enough to produce deafening shockwaves. The corpus does not name his cultivation realm, body-refinement method, techniques, costs, or later progression. (Chapters 690 and 693)

Relationships

• Bai Xiaochun: Zhao attacks him as “Bai Hao,” becomes one of his captives, and later fears his battle prowess and official authority. Bai's enforcement of universal grace directly overturns Zhao's privileged claim to his clan inheritance.
• Xu Shan: A fellow chosen used as the sole comparison above Zhao's fleshly-body strength; the corpus does not develop a closer relationship between them.
• Zhao Clan siblings: Zhao expects precedence over them as eldest son, but the Proclamation of Universal Grace gives them equal claims and turns their long-suppressed ambition against him.
