Biography

A Stolen Identity

The figure presented as Patriarch Droughtflame presides over the Sacrificial Blood Dao Formation, summons the grand lich with the other patriarchs, and accompanies the Blood Stream Sect into its confrontation with the Spirit Stream Sect. During Bai Xiaochun's effort to stop their war, “Droughtflame” abruptly attempts to kill him, apparently hoping that Bai's death will destroy the possibility of alliance. The other patriarchs notice that his cultivation was not suppressed like theirs and prevent his escape. Under their combined attack, his body bursts into countless faces, exposing Master Thousand-Faces of the Profound Stream Sect. The revelation establishes that the real Droughtflame had been secretly assassinated and his flesh used as a disguise, but it does not say when the replacement occurred. Consequently, the ritual leadership and flame combat shown on-page cannot safely be attributed to the true patriarch. His murder becomes a reason for the Blood Stream Sect to redirect its anger toward the Profound Stream Sect. (Chapters 238–240 and 278–286)

Appearance and personality

No reliable physical or personality description of the true Patriarch Droughtflame is supplied. The face, body, expressions, and decisions seen during his narrative appearances belong to Master Thousand-Faces wearing his flesh. The corpse disguise confirms that Droughtflame's body was used, but the source does not distinguish natural features from changes produced by the infiltration art. (Chapter 285)

Abilities and cultivation

The true Droughtflame's personal abilities, cultivation method, realm, and equipment are not demonstrated independently. The Droughtflame figure helps operate the Sacrificial Blood Dao Formation and uses powerful flame attacks, but the later identity revelation means those feats belong demonstrably to Master Thousand-Faces, not necessarily to the murdered patriarch.
