Madam Cai

Madam Cai is a senior Bai Clan matriarch, mother of Bai Qi, and the principal architect of the real Bai Hao's persecution. Her attempts to kill Bai Xiaochun while he uses Bai Hao's identity end with her execution after the Giant Ghost King breaks the clan rebellion. (Chapters 584–709 and 801)

Biography

Persecution and downfall

Madam Cai greets clan affairs from a position of authority but reacts to Bai Hao with undisguised hatred. She sends repeated assassins, welcomes his imprisonment in the Devil Penitentiary, and commits Bai Clan resources to eliminating him. Her hostility is rooted in the succession politics surrounding her son Bai Qi and the marginalized real Bai Hao, though the corpus later makes clear that her plan against the latter was especially vicious. After the clan joins the Giant Ghost City rebellion and loses, Madam Cai waits with the other leaders in terror. The victors deliberately leave her alive for Bai Hao because their enmity is so deep. Bai orders the names of her hired assassins collected, and Chen Hai later confirms that she is dead. Bai subsequently tells the real Bai Hao's soul that he executed Madam Cai and replaced the clan leadership. (Chapters 681–709)

Appearance and personality
