Biography

Fallen Sword Ambition and Death

Fang Lin arrives with a recent reputation built on decisive killings, including victories over multiple great-circle Qi Condensation cultivators and a Foundation-Establishment-grade defense. He enters the Fallen Sword Abyss alert to the other sects' strongest chosen and chooses not to pursue an unknown overwhelming presence before understanding it. As the Earthstring Foundation Establishment struggle intensifies, he commands Pill Stream disciples to kill Bai Xiaochun and promises Foundation Establishment Pills in exchange, hoping to stop Bai's eighth Tideflow and protect his own sect's position. The effort fails, and Bai kills him during the contest. A later revelation shows that Fang had unknowingly been infected with a soul seed, but the corpus does not make that a conscious choice or excuse his campaign. (Chapters 142–160, 167, and 221)

Appearance and personality

Fang is a young man with an expressionless face. He is vigilant, ambitious, and a decisive killer, yet not recklessly fearless: when he senses power beyond his estimate, he selects another path. Under succession pressure he uses sect authority and promised rewards to mobilize others against Bai. (Chapters 142, 146, and 156)

Abilities and cultivation

Fang is adept in poison and has cultivated the Heaven-Earth Furnace Cauldron, a technique whose exact mechanics are not explained during his life. At Qi Condensation it gives him power above the ordinary peak and lets him destroy a defense comparable to Foundation Establishment. He later competes for Earthstring Foundation Establishment, but his final exact Tideflow count is not stated. (Chapters 142–160 and 221)

  • Bai Xiaochun: Rival whose breakthrough Fang tries to stop and who ultimately kills him.
