Bai Xiaochi

Bai Xiaochi is the spirit automaton of the Sovereign Fan, a knowledgeable but temperamental guide who takes his surname from Bai Xiaochun. He manages the fan's functions, explains its legacy, and later follows Song Que as inheritor of its orthodox Dao Essence. (Chapters 1184–1290)

Biography

The fan's reluctant guide

The automaton initially resists Bai's antics and naming, then angrily accepts “Bai Xiaochi.” He provides essential explanations of the fan, its trials, the Hourglass World, sovereign remnants, and the Dao Essence of Life and Death. Although often exasperated by Bai's recklessness, he repeatedly helps navigate danger and operate the treasure. His envy, panic, and indignation make him more personally expressive than a passive control system. (Chapters 1184–1252)

When Song Que fuses with the Dao Essence of Life and Death, Bai Xiaochi recognizes him as an orthodox inheritor and becomes bound to follow his commands unless Bai intervenes. During the final struggle he controls the fan and its lonely boat when Song Que is too injured to do so. The effort and damage to the treasure badly deplete his vital energy, but he remains conscious and active at his last appearance. (Chapters 1252 and 1286–1290)

Appearance and personality

The corpus presents Bai Xiaochi as an embodied spirit automaton but supplies no stable detailed physical description in the selected evidence. He is proud, argumentative, excitable, knowledgeable, and frequently alarmed by Bai's appetite for dangerous experiments. (Chapters 1184–1235)

Abilities and cultivation

Bai Xiaochi controls the Sovereign Fan's internal functions, senses changes in its Dao Essence, and can direct the lonely boat through the River of Time and Space. These are automaton privileges rather than a stated cultivation realm, and severe damage to the fan or his vital energy limits them. (Chapters 1184–1252 and 1286–1290)
